Default LS7 and a TH400 or Powerglide?

As the title states. Has anyone ever done this? I am in the process of possibly picking up an LS7 for my 98Z and would like to use either trans. Pref a powerglide but not partial to a TH400. If this has been done can someone provide the parts needed?

There are plenty of fast LS cars with powerglides. LS2Formula has one on his (99 Formula). He has an LSX block. No idea as to what is needed.

I use a JW ultra bell for a TH400 to a LS engine. has the correct bolt holes and is safe incase of a failure inside.

I also use a UMI performance trans cross member and Madman on here made me a dipstick tube to fit like stock. I had strange engineering build me a custom length drive shaft and of course a custom convertor from circle D. It has a th400 rear half and a LS engine snout so you do not need an adapter. thats about it.

I run a glide with my 445" LSX. Made 590/550 through the 6 speed. It's only a tenth off from my 6 speed time on motor. I went 6.68 with a 1.46 60ft at 104.35mph. With the glide I went 6.74 @ 104.8 with only a 1.55 60ft. That's with a nitrous convertor. So I'm sure with a loose 8 or 9" NA convertor it would had been even better. By a lot.

But it picked up considerably on nitrous. Like 8mph on the same size shot. Also the race weight is right around 3650-3700 with only a 3.90 gear and 28" tires. So the whole thing about glides won't work in heavy cars isn't always true.

But anyways. I went from a 6 speed to a glide. I had to buy a glide trans crossmember, PST driveshaft, shifter, convertor, B&M flexplate, PTC convertor, trans cooler, stainless -6 line, and black fittings for the case and cooler.

Does your car see any street time? If so, how is it on the street?

YES it doesn't does. It's no different than a turbo 400 on the street. Just one less shift. And it good really well on the street. Especially footbraking. Some roads it will hook off the brake as well. That's on motor only tho.
