Default NHRA Rules for 10's.....HELP!

Track officials are giving me a hard time about being 10sec. legal. They tell me in addition to what I have, that I need "aftermarket axles", a "trans scatter shield", and "open ended lug nuts". I don't have a rule book so you're help is appreciated.

Is this the truth? And what parts would you recommend? I need them by next friday because it's another ET Summit race and I can't miss it.

Also, could they tell if I had aftermarket axles or not??? I'll BS'em if I have to. There's no sense in replacing what isn't broke.

COOL BATTLE BREWING AT THE LOCAL TRACK

Last week after I beat a guy in the finals he came up and in an arrogant voice said, "I have you and your high doller car figured out now!" Then I told him it was a stock shortblock, trans, rear-end etc. which shut him up pretty good.

So I was looking forward to seeing him again friday night. After just teching and pulling into the staging area, my lane was going and I didn't get a chance to set the air pressure in the tires etc. I lined up with the same guy, now in TestNTune. I forgot about the Pro tree and he tree'd me and beat me pretty good. He was stoked and I just smiled and laughed about the run with buddies, knowing full and well you can't win them all.

Then eliminations roll around and there was only a half a dozen cars in the heads up 11.00 NHRA class so I knew there was a good chance we would see each other again. Finals come around and sure enough we were lined up. Yellow...I'm gone and left him out of the hole and coasted on the big end to an 11.03 to his 11.09. RT's were .540 to .570 or something. He ran a good pass, but just can't seem to muster the "pass" at "game time". <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

I'm really amazed how serious these guys take it. I've heard more excuses now and guys tell me they "should have" beat me. And they're going out of their way to do it. I'm just out to have fun and be competitive, but it's actually pretty fun knowing how personal it gets.

I guess I'm just enjoying bracket racing instead of TNT all the time where you're not racing for pride as much.

I've seen some guys in the past put Strange or Mark Williams stickers on the outside of the axles. I would try to get ahold of some and leave your center caps out so they can see them easily. The scattershield until 9.99 I think with an auto car. I'll take a look and see for you.

To run 10's legaly, you'll also need a tranny blanket and a SFI approved harmonic ballencer.

Jantzer keep up the good work. Seems like you are an excellent bracket racer and some people can't stand to loose and will do anything to win and make excuses why they didn't win. I accept my fate as an average driver but I love fast cars and I am going to stick with it. I was hoping you would be closing in on the stock record with a faster time in the 10's. But I guess it is hard to bracket race and chase the record at the same time. BTW, I got my 60' time down from 1.63 to 1.602, just on the verge of breaking the 1.5X range. Mayble with a little more stiffening of the Hals on back, I will be in the 1.5's. I tried your burnout in second which worked fine and ran my first run in D, but my car hits the rev limiter in that gear and I had to switch to overdrive. But the burnout works great. With some cooler weather and a little weight reduction and set shifts adjustments around 6,600 RPM's or so, the car will run a faster time. Hang in there buddy, win them races and set that new time, you are almost there--what an accomphlistment. Kent.

Was this at Woodburn, Jantzer? THe tech went nuts when I ran an 12.02 and told me that my new NHRA roll bar had about 30 things wrong with it and kinda went off the deep end. I have never had these issues from the track tech guy before when runnign near or even in the 11s. Time to go back to Texas :-/
