Sounds like a cord in the tire let go. How big is it? Personally I'd be a little iffy if it is a cord that let loose. At the speed your runnin' I wouldn't want to have a blowout. At the very least I'd have it broken down off the rim and look at it from the inside.

Get it off there. Not worth taking a big chance. Most of those tires, (if they're the metric VW type radials) are only rated for 112-117 mph for 1 hr, anyway. They are poor quality tires to begin with. Even if they're front-runners made for the drags....Get it off there. I've seen one of these cars hit the wall---it's not pretty. Have a good holiday wknd.---and a safe one = new front runner. WJ.

Just another "get another tire" reply. It's not worth the risk, especially considering how much those front tires cost, especially if it's just a 165R radial...

Better safe than sorry...

Priscilla,
Get a new tire. I wouldn't want to see something happen to a cutie like you!

I've had a skinny with a bump in it for over a year with no problems

It is on the sidewall though...
