Re: What kind of 60 fts can a LS1 driveshaft take with an M6?
I have a A4 and the fastest 60'is 1.602. Have no experience with 6 spd, but 6spd's seem to be harder on the rearends than A4's. It may be attributed to 6 spd's leaving harder off the line than an auto. If this be the case, maybe pick an RPM range to leave starting line for example between 1000 to 1800 RPM's to possibly prevent damage to rear end. Concentrate on suspension components to increase traction off the line to maximize your ET. With a lower sixty foot time at a lower RPM, it would seem it would help your car last longer. I can leave the line at anywhere from 1200 to 2200 on a 3200 stall convertor and run in the 11.7's range---fair I guess. Anyway, I was trying to help and hope I did. If I am off base, please someone advise.

I think it is like GM's little 7.5" 10 bolt, some people can get LOW 60's and be fine, others arent so lucky. Coach's car comes off the line HARD and he hasnt broke his driveshaft yet

I have only broken one stock aluminum driveshaft and I launch at 6000+. My last time out I had four or five 1.47 to 1.49 60's . And probably two dozen 1.5x launches during the last few trips before that. You have to keep the torque arm angle from going posative.

I had one in the car with the old setup. I will now have a Moser 12 Bolt and ET Streets. I will be spraying off the line.

I mean I had an LS1 Aluminum Driveshaft in the car before and it's going back in for now. I will have a Moser 12 Bolt and ET Streets now and be spraying off the line. I have broke a rearend before on Nitto's, so I am not one of those people that get 1.6 60 fts on a stock rearend so I probally wont be able to on an LS1 Driveshaft.

Don't risk it! Get a new one if your concerned. Breaking a driveshaft can be very dangerous and 'cause ALOT of damage. A buddy of mine trashed his rear suspension and destroyed his floorpan because of a driveshaft breaking. It was like 1000bucks in repairs.

Re: What kind of 60 fts can a LS1 driveshaft take with an M6?
Jason, minus 2.5. The reason I broke the first driveshaft is because the torque arm bent and therefore, the pinion angle went positive under load. It twisted in half about an inch from the driveshaft loop. BTH, I never side step the clutch. I bet that helps snap them...
With my new upgrades, I will be launching at a higher rpm than before and I'm going to use a custom driveshaft.

Hey David,
I have your LS1 drive shaft sold if you want to upgrade now. A friend of mine has a 99 Z that came with the 2.73's and a steel shaft. He put 3.73's in and wants to pick up an aluminum one. I told him you had one for sale and he is interested! Just let me know.

John, I might sell it, let me see what kind of prices there are on other ones. If the 1LE is stronger, I might get that.
