Default Traction Problems w/ET STREETS...what now???

I took my car to the track this morning and tried out the trans-brake and the 60 I got on the ET Streets was a 2.1, and that was with a pretty heavy duty burnout too...

I am going to sell my current rim/tire combo, for a different set most likely...

The tires I'm running now are MT ET Streets, 26"x10.5"x15" on a 15x7 rim....

I want to step up to a 28"x11.5"x15" Hoosier slick on weld prostars 15x10

What do you all thinK?

How old are the Et Streets? Big burnout will kill the tire before the rubber is all gone.

With that 28" tire are you gonna gear up? You're already at a disadvantage with the lower starting gear ratio, that might make your 60 improve but you'd lose some up top

With bad track prep nothing will hook. I've seen slick tired cars struggle with 2.2 60fts when track prep sucks, then on the same track on a good day, they'll cut 1.5s.

Tires.

E.T. drags do the trick for me. The newer the better.

It wasn't hooking for me....probably because of my monster stall...

i had to drop my ET streets down to 10 PSI warm just to get a decent hook out of it. i will probly go with et drags next just cause these tires arent doing the trick on my track (probly one of the worst in the country).

Brian,

I have a set of 28x10.5x15 Hoosier slicks I am mounting up on my 15x10 Pro Stars.

On my car these bigger slicks will require some cutting of the rear bumper cover, some hammering on the inner fenderwell in the front, and also possibly working that front part of the fender at the bottom.

For you on spray they will work, but you are going to have to start hacking up your car. Did you see the hole that I wore in the one side of the bumper cover?

26" or 28" tires ???

What should I do guys?

just to add this in since some are saying 28 is too much and 26 isnt enough. you can get a 27 inch hoosier also. guy i know cuts 1.51 short times on 27x11.5x15 hoosier qtp's with a pye 3600 and an lt1 on a 150 shot.

bos, i dont think your car is going to require a 28" drag. thats a lot of tire. first problem is getting your tires to stay on the rim i think the rim is prolly too small (7"?). i thought you said you were hooking on the 1.7s?

cars suck.

I said it was hooking better than before, it was still spinning a bit......

Aren't the QTP's just like ET STREET's??

My 26x11.5x15 ET Street/15x10 Pro Star combo netted me some 11.1's and some 1.51-1.54 60 ft times. I never ran them lower than 15 psi.

Now that I'm awake here's what I'd do. Right now you have the ET Streets that are 8.3" wide on the tread. If you want to stay with a DOT tire go to the 26x11.5-15(you'll need a 10 wide wheel though) it's a 1/2" taller and 1.5" wider.

Now if you want to go with full tilt boogie Then the 26x8.5-15 ET Drag is about equal in size to what you have now and the 26x10-15 is about the same as the 11.5 ET Street.

I'm gonna try the 8.5 ET Drag here in a little bit(I hope) and I thik its gonna be just fine

I think I am going to try either the QTP's or the ET drags that are 26"

What do you guys think Hoosier QTP's or an all out ET DRAG

The tires are basically brand new....they have 5 passes on them total....I can spin them on the street from a roll, I was doing it on the highway on the way down...I would hit it, then a few seconds later all you would smell is rubber...

They were at 15 psi at the track....

I have 3.73's in the back...and I think the 28's would do alright on motor and even better on spray...

i think a 28" tire will be too much. maybe a 26 hoosier drag.

track was hooking like glue- 1.6 on et streets AND on nittos

90+ degrees.
