Default How I lost 100 pounds in two easy weeks

A shake for breakfast, a shake for lunch, and $1000 in weight reduction for dinner!

I weighted my stock Z28 hood/hardware at ~50#, and I'm hoping my new Glasstek pin on hood with hardware will come in at less than 20#. (its due in two weeks).

I also ordered the Aerospace Components front drag race brakes (35-40# savings), which are due in two weeks as well.

I'm thinking about the Aerospace rear brakes, but I'll have to call and check the weight savings first.

I also put flanges on my catback so I can drop the catback/ypipe at the track, or at home first when I get a trailer. Another 30# there.

All in all I'll be saving another ~100# off the car, most of it off the front end. I wonder what the nay-sayers will say when I actually get down to 3200#. More 50 shot accusations? It's not like I ran 10.67 and have never backed that number up again since or anything.

My new head/cam package is still in the works. I'm hoping to pick up another 20rwhp with it.

Congrats Terry, I hope your car will run 10.5 after the weight reduction and new heads/cam. I also like the fact that you mentioned the price of losing 100# right off the bat, some poeple here like to pretend that weight redcution is easy and doesn't cost a lot

I'm pretty much out of weight reduction mods after the brakes/hood/catback. I'll be right at 3200# raceweight. How do these guys get down below 3000#? It must take some $erious work!

Congrats on the weight savings. It really helps a cars E.T.

I just got a fiberglass hood last week. Every little bit helps.

How safe would they be on the street?

$635 shipped with braded lines. They require some sawzaw action, but otherwise bolt in.

Terry the headers were $850 plus $200 for the Off road Y-Pipe, I got them thru ARE and that was a GP price, they fit fine with the 3" collectors, Mark said that they were kind of a pain to install, once I get my new cam and tuning I'll let you know how they turn out on the dyno.

Terry- I really want to do the brakes,But I'm scared of them failing or warping.
(failing on the street....BOOM)Hello Mr. deductible.....
But 42(for strange)# weight +rotating mass is just awesome.
Please keep us informed.....

P.S. JS probably **** his pants when he saw the name of this thread.
BTW you could always cut off one of your arms since you don't have to shift,
gotta be worth 15-20#

That's too expensive for me. I'm on the "subway" plan. I'm excited about another 12lbs savings with the new battery. Jeez, the 100lbs reduction is gonna feel good. I guess I'll get the saw out myself. Have you taken out the cruise control yet? Is it easy?

I'm glad you're testing some of this stuff. If it works out ok, I'll be game before our trip to Houston.

Cruise control is very easy
Few bolts, slide the cable out and your done. I did the foglights, cruise control and AIR pump in around an hour in my driveway I think.
Cheers,
Chris

Terry, I think if you did the !head mod, you'd lose about 250lbs. Plus you could walk through doorways without hitting your ears.

Naw, here's what Terry needs to do. Hey Terry, since your on a "diet", why not cut that long hair of yours. That is an easy 10#, plus your helmet would fit better? It's what the serious racers do.

See ya at the Dyno Day at MMS, hopefully.
