Default Wheel studs & lugs

Running 15" Convo-Pro's on '02 F-bod. Summit sent me the Centerline open-end lugs & washers. Of course, the studs do not protrude thru these lugs, like the tech inspectors want... I know GM has 2 different part #'s for longer studs. Which # is correct for being able to use my stock chrome lug caps when changing back to the chrome 17" 10 spokes? Hope I explained this clearly enough.... Thanks. Anyone? WJ.

22551491 is what I just ordered for my Draglites. These are about 3.5" long .They will probably be too long for your stock lugnuts though.

I run Centerline Convo Pro's....they are one-piece wheels and shouldn't need long studs. I use open-ended lugs, and the studs protrude right to the end of them. Granted, its a Mustang, but the stud lengths should still be very similar.

I think you need to educate your tech guy.

Hey Bob: FYI, I'm running C-line Convo-Pros w/ C/line lugs that are for those whls. (sent from Summit) The stock Camaro studs come 3/8" short of being flush w/end of whl nuts. So what the h... does that have to do with my tech guy? Also, what does it have to do w/your Mustang???If you can't be constructive, please don't bother to reply... Mustangs & Camaros don't mix very well on this site. WJ.

Bob used to own f-bodies and might still own them. He was definitely posting a positive post and not flaming you. Regardless of what he drives he shouldn't be flamed like that.

My apologies, Bob. I thought you might be poking some fun, at first. Hope there's no hard feelings--I'm not here to hassle, or insult people. I think the F-body whl studs are quite a bit shorter than the Ford's, if what you said is correct. Again, no harm or insult intended. Thanks for your input. Hi Aftica. Thanks for your help on the whl stud part #. I think there's a stud available a little shorter than that one, though. Thanks again. WJ.

I'm over it...no hard feelings.

As for the studs...here is the exact wording from the 2001 NHRA rulebook:

General Regulations, Section 5:2, page 212

"All wheel studs must project into the hex portion of the lug nut by a distance equal to one diameter of the stud."

In other words, they studs don't necessarily have to protrude through the lug nuts - they only have to go into the hex portion of the stud about 1/2" - which should be the diameter of the studs on your car.

O.K. Now I see what you're saying...If what you're saying the rulebook reads, Mr. Tech man should have no beef. They're easily into the hex portion of the nut by 1/2" w/the stock studs. Thank you Bob. Once again, I've opened my mouth and inserted foot before letting someone finish, who's honestly trying to help me out...My apologies again, and also my best wishes, WJ.

I'm sorry WJ, I was trying to help. Kindly ignore my response, and rest assured that I will not make the mistake of trying to be helpful to you again.

Have a nice day.

No sweat. I'm likely the king of foot insertion.

Wait, that didn't sound right...nevermind.

Good luck.
