3.73 vs 4.10 for street/strip combination
Ok I just got done reading the same topic for the street thread. Now my question is which is a better combination for street and strip. Right now I'm guessing I'm pushing around 450hp with 550 to 570 hopefully next spring after heads and cam. I'm currently trapping at 118. I know I'll have to hit 5th at the track with 4.10's but what about with 3.73's? I run my car every couple weeks at the track and drive/street race is mostly every weekend. I need a 12 bolt soon so I want to do it right the first time. I have full bolt ons with tnt 100 shot. Car is an M6.

What gear are you running now? I had a camaro that was putting out about the same amount of hp as yours. I ran 12.80's with 4.10's. I took them out and put 3.42 in and ran 12.20. I had as much torque and hp. Thats going to make the difference.

So far my best is 12.3@118. I think a new clutch and 12 bolt will lower the et. Heads and cam over the winter definately will.

If it were me. I would'nt change a thing. If you want to race at the track and run on the street what you have is good. If you do change dont go any lower than 3:73. The lower gear will also create more wheel spin. The more power you put in the motor the less gear your going to need. And when they beat you out of the whole and you roar past them at the finish. It really shakes them
