Default Blew out a Slick at the top end of the track.

It was round 3 cut a .521 light to his 609. Pulled 3rd gear and "WOW". A loud noise and major tire smoke. Before I could get the Hot Rod stopped she blew out one of the brand new Goodyear slicks and put a groove in the other one so bad that it was going to blow in about 10 more feet.

Needless to say it was major cool that I kept her off the gaurd rail.

Got her home and the only thing wrong with her is the Back plate where the tq arm bolts up to the rear end is bent. I will get her fixed this week(track points and a $1,000.00 to win next Sunday at TAD).

I also will be ordering tomorrow, a 3rd set of slicks in the last 10 days.

The "Coach" is down but not out.

PS. She did hurt the rear facsa, maybe I will go ahead and open the fender wells and put on the 30x9x15 Slicks with the 5.36 gears.

There is nothing that a good sawzall won't cure. Three sets of slicks is a bit much though.

Iam a true DRAG RACER! None of this lets see how fast my car runs in good weather BS!

(1 Set of Hoosiers(18 passes on them) they suck on a M6 Hot Rod and 1 set of $406.00 Goodyears that I just tore up with only 8 passes on them. 1 set of Goodyears that I will order tomorrow, makes 3)!

I live to Drag Race!

The "Coach" has spoken!

Nice to hear both you and the car are ok.
Would a tube have helped you out any? Why did it blow?

Also, did the goodyears obliterate your 60's as compared to the hoosiers?

I'm guessing your tires grew too tall and the fenders cut into them, right? Pretty scary Coach, glad the car stayed off the wall.

Too bad we can't buy road hazzard insurance on slicks haha.

Guys,

Here is what happened. The bolts on the top of my BMR tq arm, come out. It put the rear angle up and pushed the rear end back. Forcing the slick agaisnt the back fender wells. This happened in the traps. It took me the hole shut down area to get her stopped.

No, tubes would not of helped.

Yes, the Goodyears kicked the Hoosiers butt. My 60fts were back down to 1.55's to 1.57's.

I think that I will put back on the old Goodyears for the next couple of weeks. I want to get the fender wells rerolled so I can put on a 30x9x15 slick and 5.14 to maybe 5.36 gears in her.

The back fender wells are pretty tore up.

Later,
Coach

Glad to hear your alright! I came close to doing the same this weekend. My slick grew into the back of the fender wheel and melted the plastic away and the medal cut into the tires a little bit. I had to get out a BFH and bend the fender out of the way. A few more passes and my Spohn Torque arm took a dump on me and bent taking out the U-joint also. Talk about vibration!

2002 Camaro SS,

Thanks!

What size of tire were you running?

Just a Heads Up, My BMR tq works great.

Pretty scary ****, Coach. Glad to hear you're OK. After my big fire back in January, I really hate hearing about things like this...

You have the right attitude, though! The car can be fixed (and I can never fix anyhting without finding some way to make it "better" in the process).

Thanks George!

I have talked to Madman today about opening up the fender wells. I hope I can get this done soon. Then in go the 5.13 or the 5.36 gears.

Did you get your motor today?

Glad your ok That is all that matters cars can be replaced not fun to do but still.

Ummm 30" slicks Gonna be fun to do for sure. Just for a side note i asked a few of the s/e guys up here and a few of them were running the 4.88 in there cars. Not sure if they were throwing a line out or not but that is what a few said.

Launching with that gear should be fun (you will know the weather pattern for sure)

It arrived in Jacksonville this morning, but didn't get unloaded off the truck. I'm going by the freight terminal in the morning to pick it up, since that will be much easier than getting it out of a semi and into my truck at my work.

With any luck (which I ran out of a long time ago evidently), I'll get her fired up tomorrow evening...
