Default A night at the track

and expected to run some really good times. The first time to the track (Roswell, NM 3700ft), I had a completely stock car (02 WS6) and ran the following (best run)

2.2 60'
9.1 1/8 @ 81
13.7 1/4 @ 103.8

That was showroom stock, down the the paper filter. I decide to head to the track last night with the following mods. Ported MAF ends, MAFT, !TB, !baffles, lid, and K&N filter. I expected to get a couple of tenths off my time. The following is what I posted (best run)

2.1 60'
9.0 1/8 @ 82
13.7 1/4 @ 105.7

So I gained a couple of MPH, but no time?!?! What's up with that? I expected to take at least a couple of tenths off my first time. Although I did add some mph....

What do you guys think????

BTW -- I'm running an M6. I launched at 1800 RPM with some traction issues and powershifted at 6000 RPM. The 1-2 shift left some rubber on the track and the 2-3 shift was smoother with just a small quick 'chirp'.

Not exact on the weather conditions, but it was pretty cool (mid 70's) but the humidity was hanging around 50%.

Try launching at 2,000rpms and shifting at 5,600 to 5,800 rpms.

Please explain your power shifting?

I maybe able to help you out some. I run a M6 pretty good sometimes.

2000 rpm launch?? How would I overcome the traction problems?? I'm running stock F1's....

Powershifting by soliari. Keep right foot on the floor. clutch 'n rip second (fast enough not to hit rev limiter in my case ), Keep right foot on the floor. clutch 'n rip third same manner as second....repeat for fourth. I hope that was the description you were looking for. If not, let me know and i'll do my best to describe the method I use.

soliari,

is it possible that your car is running rich? have you had any performance related issues other than no time gains such as bogging, or smoke?

Just a couple thoughts!

Sounds a little slow for a '02 ws6 m6. IMO, you should be low to mid 13's, not high 13's. Could be that you're not used to driving it yet. No flame intended. My buddy has an '02 ws6 and he ran 13.8 at 107 the first few runs until he got used to it. Then he was running 13.2 at 108 bone stock.
