Default My first time at the track

First time at the track and boy was it hot. Track temp must have been 110+ . Onyxss and I went to MIR for the private track rental here is how it went for me.

3/4 Tank of gas full street trim with the Torque Thrusters II's with 315 BFG Drag Radials. Track Temp damn hot.

First pass forgot to let some air out of the tires

RT 1.032 (Dave threw me a pillow)
60 2.041
1/4 13.01
MPH 109.36

Second Pass tires at 24# did a one wheel burnout so I got no traction on my launch

RT .564
60 2.107 (Let off because I was spinning bad)
1/4 13.68
MPH 107.86

Third pass. Tires at 20#. Perfect launch this one felt good.

RT .665
60 1.72
1/4 12.39
MPH 109.34

So there you have it. I didn't run anymore after the third run because I figured I could only better the last run by maybe a tenth if I could get my 60' time down to 1.6's, but we all know HD is the Nitto master So I figure in good weather the car has 11.8's in it. And the car ran at the track exactly how it sits on the street. I figure I have a low 12 to high 11 second street car.

Ryan, he has the Stage 1 heads and a mild cam (218 something). I thought he did well for a very heavy car in 105+ heat and high humidity, in actual street trim. Street tires with no weight reduction at all.

They are the ARE stage 1 heads with a mild cam 218/223 560 on a 114 LCA. No weight reduction at all. The spare tire and jack were even left in. As well as the added weight of the TT2's I think they weigh 48# each. The car is setup for the street so that is how I wanted to run it.

That is REALLY good for the heat
I remember racing at MIR when it was 110 degrees. A friend of mine PASSED OUT when putting the DRs on his car LOL!
It was fugging hot.
Cheers,
Chris
ps- In that heat I was down approx 4mph and 4 tenths.

Congrats on popping the cherry. It feels pretty good when the car hooks up for a low 12s run.
Looking at your 1st and 3rd pass shows why drag racing is all in the 60'.

BTW, I'd stay away from racing with OnyxSS before his luck rubs off on you.

Dave has had some bad luck lately, but you know these things happen in threes and I think Dave is on maybe his fourth or so bad experience so things should start looking up for him. Dave just about passed out changing his tires in the pits because of the heat. I can feel his pain. Something is just not right with his tranny. Going to the track with Dave makes me not want to race anymore. LOL.

Well, here's the good news. Talked with Wade at ARE today, and spoke about him running the same tranny running consistent low 9's. He said there has to be something mechanically wrong with the tranny, cause he's had no problem with his and is running a lot more hp through it than me. He also said that he and his tranny builder are going to get to the bottom of it. He promised me that they would do anything it takes to get it right, including going through it piece by piece. That's the answer I wanted to hear as I was reviewing my otherwise expensive options....the tranny gets dropped and shipped Friday.

Thanks Wade and ARE !!!
