New motor has some *****...but I need to learn to drive
Took the car to cecil last night to try out the new motor.
First run was a "feeler run" I launched nice and easy and took it rather easy down track just to get an initial ATAP reading on the car...
60-foot 1.921 (nice and easy)
330 5.183
1/8 7.805
mph 94.24
1000 10.037
1/4 11.904
mph 121.18
ATAP looked good...28.5 degrees of timing and ZERO KR looked somewhat rich (but I don't trust the O2 sensors right now
So I leaned it out a tad and went to make a full pass
2 stepped from 5000 rpm had a good run going and missed 4th gear bad Also forgot to log this run (I hate busy friday nights...can never get in a groove)
60: 1.672
330 4.752
1/8 7.320
mph 93.89
1000 9.668
1/4: 11.597
mph: 118.03
Since it hooked so well I figured to up the 2-step to 5500 rpm Good launch but now I missed 3rd gear (I suck haha)
60: 1.652
330 4.806
1/8 7.557
mph 91.81
1000 9.844
1/4: 11.733
mph: 120.06
I just can't win...oh well...it hooked again so lets try 6000 rpm I set it and the 2 step wasn't working off the line so I ended up with a really botched launch which affected my whole run...if something messes up in my routine I get all out of whack
60: 1.839
330 4.963
1/8 7.540
mph 95.58
1000 9.743
1/4: 11.587
mph: 122.71
checked the 2 step after the run and my dumbass set it to 600 rpm instead of 6000 rpm Oh well I'll get it back to the track in the next few weeks (have some work travel coming up next week) Either way running 11.5x missing a gear is really AWESOME and this motor is making some serious HP

Re: New motor has some *****...but I need to learn to drive
My God, on the "feeler" run, you went 121 mph!
I'm assuming that with your really steep gears, you're shifting to 4th before the 1/8 mi line, and just riding it out the rest of the way, am I right? Even if, what was your 1/8 mi time and mph on there run where you missed 4th, and the "feeler" run? Also, where are you shifting at?
Nice runs for the summer heat man! Can you just imagine how fun of a ride that is gonna be this fall when you get all dialed in, and get back into the groove!!

My shift light is at 6800 (only have the 6K series pills) but it may be better to wind out to 7k?

Fireball,
Great to see ya going to the Track.
Keep working at it. It took me a few times to get use to the Hot Rod when I 1st got her back from Thunder Racing.
I hope to get the Hot Rod back today so I can race her tomorrow with the new gears 5.14 and the 30x9x15 slicks.

Re: New motor has some *****...but I need to learn to drive
Thanks guys...I think this combo has some extremely low 11s if not high 10s in it with some better driving and some tuning...
I just redid my LS1 edit file and added 2 more degrees of timing at 4500+ rpm and adjusted the MAF table a tad to bring my LTRIMS (and hopefully my WOT) down some.
May hit the track Saturday if I'm not too tired (I'm on travel right now in San Diego and am not scheduled to arrive back in MD until 1AM Sat morning )

Kick *** Brian. Your car should be good for 124-125 mph in cold weather, and driving . That's would kick *** man, go run some 10's and hold down the fort for us M6 guys

Re: New motor has some *****...but I need to learn to drive
on the street, it takes some getting used too haha...the cam DOES NOT like less than 2000 rpm and it has serious traction problems in 1st and 2nd gear
