It's not worth anything. People do it for that warm fuzzy feeling inside.

Looks like you launched a bit better on the full belt pass. You were 0.058 faster on the full belt, but ran 0.052 faster with the short belt. So, your short belt car over came a .058 differnece and came up with a .052 gain. Those two together add up to .110

A back to back dyno might also give you some insight. It may be worth nothing, and it may be worth as much as a tenth...

Sean it was also warmer when you ran the short belt. Wait till Sep or Oct and test them, imop I think it works, .2's for me.

I will dyno test it(as I do everthing), that way I will know for sure.
Thanks again for the belt#,Bill.(and for letting me drive your car)
With some more seat time,I could drop another .15 off that time.
I was disappointed in my performance,I could do better.

I know one thing, the short belt can't hurt ET.

I have a tough time believing .2 from bypassing the PS pulley... I've always seen/heard about .03sec or so. I took the pump completely off my car, but more for weight removal than the tiny bit of hp it takes to turn the pump... Plus, it really cleaned up the engine bay with it gone.

Gave me .1 pretty consistently on my '99 M6 car w/stock crankpulley. The ASP underdrive gave me another .1.... It's so easy to do it at the track, also. Best wishes. WJ.

The shortbelt is only worth 0.03-0.04 seconds. I actually prefer running it, it makes my 6-speed feel more stable at higher speeds since I'm driving with one hand on the wheel.

If your car or your driving is not consistent, you will never notice the gains. Experienced bracket racers will definitely see that 0.03-0.04 though.

On the dynojet, it was worth about 3 rwhp.

Running skinnies without power steering just "feels" better. Besides, for only 15 bucks, i figured its worth it for nearly have a tenth.

The gain should depend on the motor. On a stock 346 it will make a much bigger difference than it would on a big bore stroker like Tony's 434.

From a physics point of view the quicker you accelerate your motor the more it would help. Guys with high rpms killer gear setups would benefit more. Guys with slow revving low gearing would benefit less. I did the mod and didn't notice anything at the track.

I wish I did a before and after, but I put a lid and short belt on and picked up 5.5ths.
I would say the short belt had a role in that.
Next timeto the track I will see what it does.

I find that it helped my stock moter times more than it does now with heads and cam. I use to drop .2 tenths off my times ( 13.1's to 12.9's) and now I dont see much differnce. I went from a 12.46 at 112.9 to a 12.24 at 114.5 by opening the cutout and putting the shortbelt on. I think most of this was from the cutout but never tested one or the other. My opinion is it helps cars on street tires more because you dont have to leave as high in the rpm's to get a decent 60 ft. It does not shock the tires as hard.jmo
