9.1 rut, is this normal?
Okay, I know every car varies, but Im just curious about my track times. I've only ran the 1/4 once at a 13.8
I've gone to the 1/8 many times and run a consitant 9.1 pass. My 60ft. is 2.1 and mph is around 77-78. My mods include: MAC headers, ORY pipe, borla wide open, air lid. My car is a 98 a4, I put down 306rwhp and 330rwtq. I run street tires (bridgestone potenzas). I know my times coud be better if I bought nittos, but I don't have the $$ to repair broken things. I guess Im just wondering if this is a average time for my mods etc. My traction ain't great but it could be worse. Just curious. Im hopefully going to get the G5 cam soon, so maybe this 9.1 rut will end with that.

my best 1/8th is an 8.68 at 85mph with same mods as you basically but no headers. also 98 a4. do you have 2.73 or 3.23 gears? that could be killing your time. i also ran on street tires with same 60ft as you. might need some tuning.
i went 9.0@83 in the 1/8th all stock with a K&N so something is probably wrong.

Okay, I looked and its GU2, so its the 2.73. Any ideas on what it might be? I know its a vague question but I really lost here.

even with the 2.73 gears i still shouldnt be outmphing you without headers in the same car that badly. do you have atap? you need to see whats going on in there and get it tuned. id bet your a/f ratio is off or youre getting bad knock retard.

Okay Thanks for the info. I think me and my friend are going in together on autotap so maybe that will answer some questions.

Re: 9.1 rut, is this normal?
DrowningMan, Have you been going to Kennedale? Have you just been racing in the summer? In April at Kennedale, I ran an 8.927 all stock except Flowmaster. I just went this past Thursday and my best out of my three runs was a 9.266 w/ free ram air, K&N, and a lid, also lighter rims and better tires. I couldn't get any traction on that damn track either. You have to remember, that track sits in the damn sun all day. And summer heat down here does make a BIG difference. But, you should be doing a little bit better than you are with all those mods. I would check everything out like hondakiller said, but don't stress untill it gets a little cooler here. If you're still doing that bad, then start freakin. But I've asked around, none of us are having good luck at Kennedale right now. (Even if that's not the track you're going to - I'm sure that's close to the same problems there)

nittos will not break a 2.73 rear and will allow you to cut a 1.9 60'.
You need a good torque converter. A Vig 2800, or SuperYank 3500 and nittos would have you moving nicely and will complement the cam. The Vig 2800 will have better drivability, but the softer hit from the SY will be eaiser on the rear end.
