Default New best with stock converter.

No changes since I ran 12.62 @ 110.11 mph w/ 1.92 short with a set of '99 Z28 wheels and bald BFG drag radials, except new rear Convo Pros with Hoosier drags. My friends were telling me the drags would slow me down but I did not expect them to slow me down as much as they did.

Here's my runs:
Run1
.546
2.004
5.478
8.298
87.89 MPH
10.727
12.796
108.95 MPH

Run 2
.594
1.993
5.484
8.303
87.76 MPH
10.736
12.809
108.72 MPH

Now, both of those runs were with DA around 0 feet. Last time I was running 12.6s @ 110 mph all night long with the BFG's and DA around 800 feet. So, the slicks were slowing me down nearly .25 ET and 2 MPH if you consider the correction for DA!. But I thought a few changes could improve my times so here's what I did...
After logging my second run with EFILive I noticed my 1-2 shift was @ 6250 rpms but my 2-3 shift was only @ 6070 rpms. So with LS1Edit I bumped the 2-3 shift up 1 mph from 78 to 79. My friend also used Edit to lock my converter @ 95 mph. Then, I raised the slicks from 14psi to 25psi. Finally, I took all the crap out of my car (about 50 to 70 pounds worth) and put it in my friend's car.

Run 3
.578
1.945
5.375
8.149
89.22 MPH
10.542
12.580
110.54 MPH

Woah! I can understand the ET somewhat, since my 60 foot was better but I didn't expect those MPH's?!? . I was going to leave after my third run but now I had to make one more pass just to back it up for peace of mind.

Run4
.515
1.962
5.396
8.173
89.08 MPH
10.569
12.610
110.43 MPH

Well, a little slower but at least I backed up the 12.58 pass. BTW, EFILive was showing my 2-3 shift @ 6230 rpms, right where I wanted it.

Well, now the Yank PT4400 that's sitting in my garage can go in. That will be my only change for the next time I go to the drag strip. It should give me a good me a good indication of how much the converter is worth. I can't wait!

Derrick

Damn, those are some kick *** ET's for a stock converter! You should be knocking on the 11 sec. door with the PT4400 in there. Maybe you can make better use of the Hoosiers then.

Muchas Gracias amigos! It's amazing how much the little things like tire pressure and weight can effect performance. But you're right, George, I'm not getting much use out of the Hoosiers with the stock converter. I wanted to see how much the PT4400 would drop my ETs by itself.

Shawn, I need to talk to the owner of my dealership to see if he will let me use an engine bay next Saturday, the 26th or the following Saturday, the 2nd of November. I hope to go to MAR on the 3rd. It's the last day of the season. I still have to send my converter to Yank to have them look at it and make sure all of the foamies are out of it.

awesome ET's for the stock converter. Any 3200+ stall will probably have you knocking on 11's for sure!

a 3600+ and you will have 11's

dont yank it.. vig it hahaa, but truthfully yank or vig and you will have 11's

I found the same to be true w/my 26-8.5x15 ET Drags w/my stock converter and 3.23's, you have to run the tires hard. At 28 psi, I run 12.80's-12.82's w/ 1.91 sixtys all day long. Less than 1500 mi. on '02 345hp w/dual-dual SS. My mph's are in the 108+ range. Best wishes. WJ.

you'll need to lower your shift points with the verter...

in good weather with stock vert (no EDIT done) i ran 12.59 @ 109.4 with a 1.87 60'

Street tires
SLP y-pipe & LM
lid
gutted maf
skinnes and took out all the weight. I weighed about 3550 with me in it.

Now I have a 4000 stall
So far I've only made 2 passes on slicks. I need to play with edit a little. best so far is 12.40 @ 109 with a 1.66
that's with normal tires up front.

The PT4400 would just be icing on the cake. But screw all of that, I'm putting in the Yank first! I'll do all that other shtuff over the winter.
