What width tire should I run???

What width tire should I run??? I'm planning on getting some race only tires and I'm not sure what width I should get. I have 8" wide draglites and I'm running a 28" tire. I'm planning on having a 422 built over the winter. Car is an M6 and I can't decide if I want to run QTP's and stay a street car or get ET Drags and run with the big dogs. Would a 9" wide be enough or should I go bigger?
