Default Is adjustable torque arm a must??

Looking into after market torque arms. How important is adjusting the pinion angle? Does it really make that much of a differance in hooking up?

Well since you have a SPOHN T/A you should know about pinion angle.

There are 2 things that make these cars work. Pinion angle AND instant center. YES you need as much adjustment as you can get.
Instant center controls weight trnsfer and pinion angle controls PLANT of the tires.

Until your car is powerful enough to find the limits of a good pair of slicks, adjusting the pinion angle isn't the priority. If you are running on drag radials, suspension is more critical. Tires are the most important item in my opinion. I still run an LG Motorsports non-adjustable torque arm and I hook/launch just fine for an overweight 6-speed (3600+ lbs)

Same here, my car still has the stock T/A.

I'm not cutting any crazy low 60' times either but decent on the stock arm (1.6's, low 1.7's)
