Default Losing wieght - removing front and rear bumper supports?

Ok it seem like you can get rid of some unessisary weight by removing your front and rear bumper supports. Least thats what ive heard. Well how do you get them off? Do you need them to keep your bumpers on? Will this be applical for a daily driver?
anyone done this, i need to shed 100lbs off my car. ive been able to get alot of weight off my rear of the car with !spare and !exhaust, but i want to get it off the front where your suppose to.
And the !left arm and !left leg isnt applicable since its a M6.
i want to be as light as fluffy

I don't know if I'd remove the bumpers on a dialy driven car or not. They are there for a reason, and not having them in an accident could possibly cause you and the car a great deal more damage than if they were in place.

That being said, they both weighed about 42lbs. on my car. You do have to remove the outer bumper covers to get to the actual bumpers. From there, it's a pretty simple job as they just unbolt and come right off. Then you put the bumper covers back in place.

A Helm's factory service manual would come in very handy since it has detailed instuctions on removing the bumper covers, etc...

I have removed several sets along with numerous other parts. I would not remove them on a daily driven car. The bumper supports are structural crash supports, they are your crush zones. If removed the slightest impact could really cause a lot of damage.

i think the rear would be ok since you are far away from stuff that could crush you from the rear. The front probably needs to stay.....course i will look at my crashed car and see if i can get you a better idea....maybe it didnt help that much....honestly i dont know

I just took out my front bumper and will soon do rear. I rarely drive my car on street BUT after seeing what I took out ....IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE MUCH HELP ANYWAY. Definately not a life saver...it may protect radiator in a 10mph crash but thats it, any faster and it won't help much.

I've removed (and reinstalled) my front & rear bumper supports. I've got them back in right now, but plan to remove them after no longer daily drive the car.

I plan to make an angle iron bracket for the front styrofoam - so that the nose doesn't 'flap' at highway speeds. I've seen a car that had its support removed for a long time, and the paint along the top of the nose was all cracked up.

It can't be *that* difficult to fab something up. I've got a cheap wire feed welder... Just some scrap angle and/or tube should be all that's needed to bolt the foam to. I won't be doing it for the crash support - only to keep the urethane fascia from flapping.
