Everyday Skinnies and Drag Rims
I really like how they look on our cars and I would like to pick up a set. What sizes do most buy? What type of tire should I get so I can use them everyday if I want? "Gonzo" Has a set on his car and he looks capable of taking "some" corners with the skinnes. What do you think? I think seeing a car with skinnies and drag rims would make me belive he is packing some serious power. And I am.. I drive a Camaro

Re: Everyday Skinnies and Drag Rims
I run the Centerline 15" Convo-Pro's, as well. 15x4's and 15x7.5's out back. The fronts are 165x15 metric radials, rears are 26-8.5 ET Drags, which never hit the street. I run 17x9 ZR-1's w/275-40x17 Nitto extreme drags on the street. I also run front swaybar disconected, boxed lca's w/poly bushings, rt. side airbag. With this stuff, the car handles like a piece of doo-doo on the street, but I bought this car 99% for the track--that's where it gives me the most enjoyment by far...Remember, those skinnies on front & fat stickies on back will spell disaster going fast around corners. Re: Everyday Skinnies and Drag Rims
For the best overall feel/handling, run the 165R/15 radial "bettle" tires on the front if you are going to run radial tires on the rear of the car. Run something like the M/T Sportsman front (which is a bias-ply tire), if you'll be running something like slicks or ET Streets... Cars can tend to start to drive/handle funny when you mix bias-ply and radial tires.
That being said, I personally run 165R/15 radials on the front, and 28x10.5x15" M/T stiff-sidewall slicks on the rear, and the car drives and handles fine on my 130+mph 1/4 mile blasts.

Re: Everyday Skinnies and Drag Rims
I'm running Bogarts, 165R15 tires in the front (15x4 rim) and 295/50-15 tires in the back (15x9.75 rim), all from Pep Boys.
I've got another pair of 15 x 9.75" Bogart rims that I'm going to mount slicks on. So, I've been driving around on the Pep Boys tires, and will change them out at the track for slicks.
Pictures are here. Now you know the reason for my Avatar selection. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
One thing I will say, these Pep Boys tires handle a HELLUVA lot better in the rain than bald 275/40-17 Nitto DR's. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> And my mystery vibration is gone as well. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Re: Everyday Skinnies and Drag Rims
I run weld draglites, 15x10 rear and 15x3.5 front. PepBoys 165r15 front and 275x60x15 BFG Comp TA DragRadials rear. I run 11.6 at track, and drive on the street with them. They are o.k. doing the speed limit, but suck cornering over the limit.

Weld Draglites here. The usual 15 x 3.5's(1.75 B.S.) on the front with Pep Boys 165/15 Metric radials, and 15 x 8's (5.5 B.S.) on the back with 275/50/15 Nitto's.Fronts require no grinding with a 5/16 spacer, rears require a little grinding with a 5/16 spacer.
I'm not a corner carver kind of guy so the difference with the skinnies does not bother me.I tried several "emergency type" manuevers at highway speed to see if they were dangerous. The car doesn't react as quickly or crisply as it did with the GSC's but by no means would I consider it dangerous.
It looks great & I get a lot more comments on the car than I did with the stock T/A rims
