Re: Any one running PETE Z bars?
I have them and I'm still trying to figure them out. I think I have a handle on it but need a long day at the track to try some final settings. On the street they aren't too bad..if you have adjustable shocks. Turn them ot 0-2(soft) and the ride isn't too bad. In race setting(6-7 for me right now) if the return road is bumpy you will almost hit your head on the roof if it wasn't for the 5 pt. I like them and think once I get my suspension set right will be in the mid 1.4x with a 6 speed. I know judson went 1.29 with them at the thunder shootout and alot of stock elem boys run them. Sometimes I wonder why I got them..sometimes I love them..lol. I think on an auto you would elem any hooking problems you have. Last time at the track hardly anyone was able to hook except the big tire converter cars. By the end of the night Ihad set a new best 60' on a so-so track prep. So it looks like they are starting to do what they are suppose to do.

Re: Any one running PETE Z bars?
I found some more info on these bars that may help you and another picture.
<img src="http://hpspecialties.com/graphics/productATE-101_fullsize.jpg" alt=" - " />
can also be found at:
hpspecialties.com
ATE-101 is the part number. Location is in the PRODUCTS section under CHASSIS
"These high quality traction bars are a laser cut assembly, made from top grade billet aluminum link tube and high strength spherical rod ends. This setup is completely bolt on, designed to be used in conjunction with factory torque arm, converting stock trailing arms into a short ladder bar system. These ladder bars are track tested by national event and class winners. Legal and approved for NHRA and IHRA stock eliminator and bracket racing."
The price on that site is a little bit expensive. I would get the bars from Madman. The pic of his bar is identical to these bars and probably cheaper.
If you need more info and want to contact Pete Z himself...here is the number I found. Call Pete Z at: 315-483-6412
Hope that helps.

Re: Any one running PETE Z bars?
Anyone know why they're for use with a "stock torque arm?"
I wonder if that means a stock type torque arm suspension in general, or literally a stock torque arm.

Re: Any one running PETE Z bars?
These bars are ffor use with a stock t/a because you need to let the t/a float. We usually take a piece of 2x3 tubing and stand it up on a crossmember. We put the front of the stock t/a thru the tubing and let the arm float in there. The only thing the t/a does at this point is if you ever break the "Z" bars the rear end will stay under the car. I DONOT recommend these bars for street driving because of the noise factor. They hook extremely well on stock eliminator style cars.

Re: Any one running PETE Z bars?
Thanks for clearing that up, Brian. It makes sense, now.
I'm happy as could be with the Madman TA, so I don't think I'll be changing any suspension components anytime soon. I may have to install a wheelie bar, though. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Re: Any one running PETE Z bars?
couldn't you run the stock t/a on the street and un hook the rod end from the z bars?
then let the t/a float at the track and hook up the rod end again?
then let the t/a float at the track and hook up the rod end again?
