Default Full fuel tank?

I'am going to run my bone stock M6 2000 SS on the original Goodyear F1 tires.

Should I run with a full fuel tank to aid in traction?

Or...run with as little gas as possible to shed weight?

Thanks for informative replys.

1/4 tank, or a little less. Shed the spare, jack, and anything else floating around in there. Pounds are tenths! WJ. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Thanks for your reply 99 SS,

I agree that pounds are tenths and every bit counts. I'll take your advice and remove the 'extra' stuff.

Can anyone else shed light on this subject?

I also agree that pounds are tenths, but ONLY if you can get traction. Track prep and outside temperature will be a key factor in traction. I have tried both ways(1\4 tank and full tank) on street tires and it did not seem to make much of a difference either way.

I've always believed that less fuel/weight was better for ET. However my best 60ft times (1.71 on Nittos, need to change the sig) have been with an almost full tank. If your traction challenged I'm starting to believe that a full tank will help ET's, since what you would gain in traction would be far better for ET than what you would gain with less weight. That will not be true if your dead hooking with a full throttle leave though.

Even when traction limited I like less weight. I just adjust my driving to suit the traction. I used to cut consistant 1.5 60 fts on Nittos with WAAAAAAAAY more power than they could handle. I just had to figure out how to drive the car like that (I can tell you I was leaving the line nowhere near WOT!)
