Default Guys with QTP`s or ET Streets?

I know the rule of thumb is to not roll through the water box with treaded tires, but does that rule apply to D.O.T. race tires like M/T ET Streets or Hooosier Quick Time Pro`s? The grooves seem small enough not to pick up any amount of water. I`m basically trying to find out what people using these tires do for a burn out. Thanks for any info.

It's not because of the rear tires, but rather the front tires. If you use your OEM tires (like I do), you should drive around the burnout box and back up. If you use skinnies, by all means drive thru. The skinnies are less prone to pick up as much water as street tires mounted on 16x8 17x9.

Its also good pratice not to do your burnout in the water, this will fling water all over your wheel well and when you pull up to the line it will drip on your tire.

Get the tires wet then pull up a bit and do your burnout.

Here's something to consider.

I've done a dry "clean-off" of about 2 seconds, and a wet burnout (get tires wet, pull forward out of water) for 5-10 seconds. It doesn't affect my ET or 60'. I still do the burnout because it's fun though. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
