Default Gonna find out how LESS gearing effects the car this weekend

Lately I've been running 4.71 gears/28" tire which has been running pretty well (11.29 @ 124) but I've still had serious issues with traction

We've been discussing this with Craig @ GTP and he suggested to try a lower gear ratio to see if it'll carry more power out of the hole (let first last longer) and not hit the tires as hard.

Right now I'm crossing ~7000 rpm through the traps. My hp peak is right at 6400-6500 rpm on the dyno. Ideally I'd like to try a 4.56 but I don't have a set readily available so I'm going to put my 4.30s back in this week to see what happens LOL

If it traps THE SAME it should cross right at 6400 rpm. but I'm thinking it may actually trap a bit better since I'll be crossing closer to HP peak...

We'll see I guess

Good luck

Ideally though you want to cross about 400-600rpm past your RWHP peak for best ET/mph. That being said you are having traction problems so if you can nail a low 1.5 sixty with the 4.30s you "should" go faster from the gain in the sixty foot. Might lose a little mph but that aint no big thang

Everything else being equal, I would want to cross several hundred rpm above peak HP for best ET.

Be interesting to see what happens.

right now I'm 600 past. Like I said I'd prefer a 4.56 gear for test..but don't have a set handy and don't care to buy another gear so close to what I already have

oops. I went to do them Friday and realized I had left them down at the shop (thought they were home ) Being thanksgiving on Thursday kinda made it impossible to drive down to baltimore to get them and have them in by Sat morning.

Weather (barometer) was iffy on saturday so I didn't race (no need to beat the car up for marginal weather)

Unfortunately I don't know if I'll have time to do it this week or not. Cecil only has 2 weekends left and I already have plans for the 14th...so my chances to try the 4.30s may be over for the year

but I'll try to get the gears in Thursday night...
