I would like to know this as well. Best I've heard of is the new cover plate that billingsley came out with to go over where the heater core and evaporator were and get a heater from summit. I think tom the roofer said it weighs 6lbs.

My dash is out, heater core and duct work is out and the new 6 lb heater is still in the box. We figured how we are going to mount it. It will be easy. If you are interested in doing that e-mail me and I'll give you my cell #. The shop is open till 10 pm most nights.

Tom,

thanks for the offer, but I don't want to get into alot of removal (dash etc) I just want rid of the extra a/c stuff.

I wonder if the older f body car heater boxes are the same? if 1LE cars have no a/c then can't we just buy their airbox?

I'll post a pic of what I am talking about. Give me an hour or so.

Thanks Tom, do you think it is possible to devise a functional defroster with the summit heater?

A defroster is mandatory for me <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

thanks! <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Just mount the Summit unit so it blows through the defroster opening in the dashboard cover. I will know more in a week or 2 when we actually get into installing the heater. Right now the roll cage is being installed.

Tom,

Your daughter looks like she ate well today, my son put down some turkey too! haha

that looks like a PITA to remove from the dash.

I have a new idea. I may try to remove the evaporator housing from the heater box and cover it with some type of plate. gotta get out in the garage and take a look at it and figure something out.

here is what billingsley had to say about their plate:

Terry,

Our HVAC Delete kit is a plate that fills the hole in the firewall when the entire system is removed. In order to retain the heater assembly only (no a/c), the HVAC box must be removed from the car, and a box must be fabricated to attach to the HVAC unit in place of the evaporator housing. We have done this before, but need the HVAC housing to do it. Thanks

Billingsley Racing

basically I am BORED and need something to mess with on the car while it sits on jackstands motorLESS...haha

Terry, that is my Granddaughter and she did eat well. haha She is 10 months old in a few days.

Yes it is a PITA to remove but I removed it so I could run the under dash cross bar required for the 10 point roll cage.

The pics are in the 1st web page in my sig. The pics are of the whole unit, duct work, blower motor. Heater core and A/C core are inside this contraption.

I'll get some pics of the car in the disassembled stage maybe tomorrow. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

EDIT: this whole contraption weighs 21.5 lbs.
