Fastest Time of Drag Radials?
Just wondering how fast people have been able to go in drag radials at the track? Please list your tire/wheel combo and your times! I know there was a Supra that ran 8s on BFGs, as it states all over the BFG website. They don't however, say what tire it was. Thanks!

Re: Fastest Time of Drag Radials?
just a FYI for ya, those bigtime drag radial cars are making a lot more power for the times they are running due to the suspension/power curve they need to keep from blowing the tires away.
the tires they use is 325/50/15. There are only 1-2 organizations that let you use the huge 315/60/15
most of those cars are setup with powerglides, specific suspension, and really odd power curves to keep the tires from going away
But these motors are making well into the 1200hp range if not more. I know of making making almost 1700hp on the dyno. I also know of 2 cars that have gone 170mph
-----more realisically though, if you learn to drive on the tires you can get them to get you into the 10s pretty easily. After that it becomes a combination of luck and tuning

Re: Fastest Time of Drag Radials?
Cool, thanks for the info! I'll have 4.10s in the car so maybe I'll be better off sticking with a more dedicated strip tire - ET Street or Hoosiers that will give me a bit better traction at the expense of some streetability...

honestly though it depends on your horsepower. The more torque you have the harder it is going to be to get a DR to hook.
i'm not saying you cant do it, just takes a lot of practice and patience

We're shooting for 750RWHP on race gas, but we'll see...... I think practice is the key word here.
The 315/60R15 BFG DRs will give me better traction and probably better streetability then say a 26/11.5/17 ET Street, though, right?

Re: Fastest Time of Drag Radials?
I know lots of people that have run in the 8's on drag radials. I have a Nova that went 9.80's on the 315/60 15's and I built a malibu for my buddy that ran 9.40's on a 325/50 15. Both of those cars are stock suspemsion. We raced with the supra at a drag radial race. It went mid to low 8's on a 315/60 15. I think the fastest ever on radials is 8.20's. It's the huge sidewall that makes the big 15" radials work pretty easily. It would be really tough to run those times a 17" drag radial with the short sidewalls.

i know it is not fast but i went 11.30s on some small 275/50/R15s in my 69 Camaro. then i put on some slicks and went 10.02 so go figure. i just put the DR's on my 12 second LS1 and i am very happy with them there hehehe.

Re: Fastest Time of Drag Radials?
how about some psi info...how low can you go? we had to put mine down to 15 last night and it still spun slightly, but i did get at least one pass that didn't spin. Had the HAL's down to 2 on the front.

Re: Fastest Time of Drag Radials?
I recently tried my 275/60/15 Nittos on the 200 shot
10.87 et
134.7 mph
1.69 60ft.
I had to peddle the car more then expected even trying to roll into the throttle. I have no plans to try racing on them again.
The BFG's that everyone runs quick on are alot softer sidewall and therefore hook much better, but wear out quickly.

I ran a 10.8 with a 1.59 short time on 315-35-17 in my Camaro. I had psi at 18 and the rim spun inside the tire about 2-3 inches. Full weight street car, full interior, not a race car at all....3.23 gear, auto, 3400 stall...275's up front.

Dewayne "BigDaddy" Gultridge went 7's on the big 315/60/15 DR's. i read it a couple of months ago in a mustang mag. it was an exhibition pass. if i can find specifics i will post them.
