Will swapping out 3.73's to 3.42's...
give me a better E/T? I have a wierd E/T problem as of this past season...Current mods are Hot Cam, Macs w/ ORY, 3.73's, TransGo, LCA's and panhard rod and freebies. My last dyno pull with the following mods resulted with 355 rwhp/360rwtq. The car is a '00 Z28. Now at the track, I'm crossing the traps in 4th, and my best time to dte with this set-up has been a 13.3 ... with a 111.XX mph trap speed. 60' are only 2.2X. I know I'm suffering bad, since I do not have a torque converter (coming next season), but will swapping in 3.42's help me get out the hole quicker??? I noticed just by putting in the 3.73's launching became a problem and would always roast the tires on a full throttle launch. Its even worse now with the addition of the cam and headers. I figure 3.42's will give less torque multiplication and thus help me atleast get a 2.0 or better 60' which will also drop my E/T. Any help is appreciated..Thanks!!!

If it were me I would invest my money in a better set of tires to take advantage of the 3.73s. What kind of tires are you running? I am running 3.73s and I love them I have BFG 315 DRs (I have a C5).

Invest in ET Streets or ET Drags. 1.9+ sixty ft. times should get you into the high 12's. WJ.

he forgot to mention that he had already invested in a set of M/T ET Streets towards the end of the season. So his '00 Z28 is equipped with the mods listed above w/ ET Streets. Any other suggestions??

I had a bad experience traction to. Try not to romp on the gas pedal. What you should try and do is to roll into the pedal so to speak (gradually take it to the floor). It takes practice.

Re: Will swapping out 3.73's to 3.42's...
I was running the E/T streets at 18psi at the ime...I can't see why only a 2.3 60' was acheived. I was running 1.9-2.0's damn near bone stock on Bredgestone Potenza's!!! Thanks for the advice Fbodyman.....Any more? You think the car being rear-ended a year ago has anything to do with it? It was repaired, but maybe the frame isn't up to "factory spec"?

the car being hit should have nothing to do with it. try the thing with the gas pedal that I said before if u still have with that get rear control arms and springs from a v6 camaro ; they're not as stiff therefore allowing the rear to squat more

First off, you may very well have problems with the rear not being square after the wreck, check it. 2nd, IMHO 18PSI is to high, start with 13PSI and do a good burn out to get them hot. I do at least a 4 to 5 second burn on ET streets. Next tach it to the point where the brakes will still hold before you start sliding and hold it and then mash the gas and go. I have 3:73s with a VIG 3200 stall and regularly cut 1.59 to 1.62 60fts.
