Depending on your stall you might not pickup with the 12bolt/extra gear!! I just swapped from 4.10s->3.23s. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I'm going through the traps on the converter... I have a TP4400 and when I lock it up my RPM's fall all the way down to ~5100 when I cross the traps... That's below my torque peak... If I don't lock it up, yes the RPM's hang at 6k, but the car is riding the converter...

You also have a larger engine... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Joe tell us more about your car, what converter are you running?

When I had the 346 I didn't pick up any ET going from 3.23s->4.10s. Just let it ride the converter, its OK. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> I did pick up a ton of MPH with the 4.10s though. I ran 127 with a locked TP4400, 3200# raceweight! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

PSJ - Most of the details can be found here:
https://ls1tech.com/ubb/cgi-bin/ulti...c;f=5;t=003175

TB - If the gears won't do it, what will help get my 1/4 times to catch up to my 1/8 times?

Joe-I'm in the same boat as you. I ran 2-11.01s and 2-11.02s last Sunday and ended up blowing my Posi unit. I haven't checked you mods yet , but my basic mods are as follows:

Stock 3.23s
Yank ST3500 (1.460 60s also)
ET drags
FLPs
C1 Hammer cam
MTI Stage 2 heads

I totally agree with the other guys. The gear change will do little or nothing except increase your chance of shearing the teeth off of the ring. Those GM 3.23s are almost indestructable. I would have had a 10 second pass if I had removed the front passenger and swapped it with the drivers power seat.(20+ lb savings). Do you have the lightweight hawker battery? If I had your converter I would be able to pull it off , but now I'm hell bent on making it happen with the ST3500. On the last pass, the wife had it in her hand until the rearend gaveway. Oh well , there is always next time. Hang in there and good luck. You may be the first.

TXCAMSS - I have a hawker and a shortbelt that I haven't tried yet...

Any ideas what will help my top end? My 1/8 are decent, but after that it falls off...

I got to checking time slips from last Sunday and I had 4 slips that had 6.98 1/8 mile passes. I wish they were 10'S. Very close , but not quite there. Joe , did you try to short belt the car? I have the Super sucker ram air kit on my SS it's totally sealed with an extension piece I made for it. I am guessing that is the reason for the difference in our MPH. I really thought the TP4400 would trap a good bit more MPH over the ST3500. Any way you look at it, that car is moving for a NA 346. Congrats again!!!

I have never tried a shortbelt yet... And I just got the terminal adapters for my hawker... I'd like to remove some weight and see what happens. I'm at 3480 minus the welds... What is your raceweight James? I have a whisper RAM air thingy but the lid is not sealed in the front opening...

Oops...

Only little trick I can think of that has not been brought up would be to try maybe a MAF-T at the track and try leaning/richening up the WOT.

I lent my MAF-T to a LT1 383ci stroker buddy and he ended up experimenting with it, and picked up a mph after three track runs... added fuel...

FWIW everything these days is saying that 900 02's are pretty good...

Have you thought of raising the 2-3 shift a bit more to try to drop down to say 5300 or something hire where you pull harder? Might end up overreving 2nd a bit.

Joe , You are there in a big way, you just don't know it yet. I am at 3475#s with the welds all the way around and my skinny *** in the car. The short belt should give you 3 hundreths and sealing the front airbox WILL definitely help. I am running the Super Sucker with a custom built front extension and I am getting more MPH than I should. PSJ is right also. I am running a MAFT and I lean the car out until I show KR or lose MPH. "Lean is mean". It should be a cake walk for ya. I'm pulling for you. Good luck!

PS- Something else I have done is take a factory air filter and cut all of the paper element off, leaving just the gasket and wire mesh. Running that should bump the MPH up. This allows you to keep the seal on your airbox without restricting the air flow. I hope this helps ya.

Default Any A4 346ci guys in the 10's NA on stock 3.23's?

I'm sooo close, just wondering if it has been done so I can give up and put my 12-bolt in with steeper gears or if I should keep trying... Raceweight is 3480 minus whatever welds front and back subtract... I have gone to the track twice now and have 10 slips at 11.0x with a best 60' of 1.46... I know the gears will push me into the 10's, but I would like to know if it has been done before on the stock 3.23's...

Thanks!
