Default ET Street Question

I just got a pair of new 26x10.5x16's mounted (no tubes) on a set of 16x8.5 GM take-offs. This is my first set (Nittos before) and I noticed that they bulge in the center of the tread (evenly all the way around). They aren't on the car and have about 20 PSI in them. Is this normal? They can't even stand upright because of this.

Thanks, Ken

Not sure about the bulge but 20 PSI seems pretty high. I have the same tires and have firebird wheels for them and i run them at 12 PSI.

Bulge is normal, same thing on the ones I have used. 20psi is good if you haven't drilled&screwed the beads, any lower and you risk breaking the bead at launch. With beads screwed, the 12 psi is a nice choice also. Bottom line when your looking for your tires psi, you want it as high as you can get it and still hold traction, this method reduces rolling resistance increasing speed and better E.T. Have fun.

I dropped the pressure to 14psi and had no problem at all with seperation or slipping tires on the rim, on an 8 1/2" rim. I can see some concern, but it worked for me. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Well, I was planning on starting them at 16-17 PSI to see what happens. I just put a 7# ATI kit on the car (already have a 12 bolt and SPEC stage 3 carbon) and the Nittos are now useless. What kind of burnout do these tires need? My Nittos really needed to get hot to stick.

Thanks, Ken

I run my 26x11.5x16 E.T. Steets at 10 psi. then after the burnout they are at 11 psi. This seems to work good for me. I have cut a best of 1.51 60ft.

My ET Streets always seemed to grow about +2 after a run.

I like to run mine at 15-18psi depending on how the track is hooking.

Thanks again guys. I'll start out at 17-18 PSI and drop the pressure as needed.
