its only for bragging rights. I think the honor system works pretty well amoung friends. Bob set this up with a few invites in mind. If you want to "build" your bolt-on motor..go ahead. its your money you are wasting for a pat on the back.

I just wich I still had a stock motor so I could get in on it.

I appreciate all your help with what I'm trying to do.

Bob, the good-faith, invite-only system you established should eliminate most, if not all, attempts to cheat. Don't worry about old man Joe. We'll have a lot of fun!

Bob I support what your trying to do.... It's just that you are one of the sharper knives in the drawer and if you thought you could get away with some of these things you would do them. I do think that the Mustang crowd would get a big kick out of embarrasing the LS1 crowd especially after the dismal beginnings of the 4.6 DOHC Cobras and the spirited comments made towards the owners of said Mustangs by the LS1 crowd ... I think it would be a lot of fun.

Rageman ya'll watch him!!!!!

Ha ha ha...yeah, I trust Bob...about as far as I can throw him, at least.

I'll keep an eye on him for sure. Sneaky Ford guys.

All BS aside...honestly Joe, I simply wouldn't do it. This little race is for pride and bragging rights. I could cheat and get the bragging rights, but it wouldn't mean much to me. And that's what I'm racing for...me.

Class racing (NMRA) is different. As far as the top guys go, if you're not cheating, you're not trying hard enough. Those guys went off and left me for dead in 2002, and the latter half of 2001 even. Through the whole time, I only had one quasi-legal part on the car...and it was external to the motor (don't wish to say what), and most certainly is a bolt-on that fits into the scope of our little race. Had I of raced F/S in 2003...well...some things would have been different.

I'd prefer to "embarrass" my LS1 brethren in honest, open competition - and intend to do so. So Rageman and 01-Z, when I whoop your 360 RWHP ***, you'll know I've done it in good faith.

Good point Joe but I believe thier are still some honest people out there. If I came with a motor like that I would expect 10.90's no sweat. Hell I would just like some stiffer valve springs and hardened push rods Hopefully we all will be legit

Default I'm building ma a bolt on motor with a little help from my friends.

Where do I start. I take the stock long block I got from my local Chevy dealer and compleatly disassemble it. Next I square the deck and align hone the block.... Then I order me a set of superlight piston with titanium pins, hone the cylinder walls to a mirrow finish for a set of super low tension .043 rings... Maybe do a little cutting on the crank to lighten it...
Next I get me some stock heads and angle mill the hell out of them to get me about 12 to 1 compression... do a nice neat three angle valve job which by the way is how many angles a stock valve job has... it's amazing what a good head my can do for flow with seat widths. Cams... it wide open depending on how the checking is going to be done... the old vacume gauge thing leaves a lot of room for inovation.

Bob if I've left any thing out, other than a stock DOHC 4.6 will turn 7500 rpm effortlessly, Let me know

Yall watch Bob and remember... The more rules you have the easier it is to cheat!!!

That's why all winners are subject to teardown. If something illegal is found the owner is SOL, if everything is legal the guy who requested the teardown pays!

Joe,
After some serious talking with in the know sources, we have decided that despite your quote from Thunder, "These batteries are kinda like my ***** boys, They's dead!", you need to get laid and mellow out a little

Have a nice Day.

People keep saying its only for bragging rights. Well why are you building an engine. Ok you can say its for money but you will spend more money on the engine than you will ever win with it. Only person that can ever come ahead with building a race car is coach and thats cause i saw the video of his car with about 100000 contingency stickers on it. I think it was Coach's car. I would really like to see what the finished product is and see it run and learn all the specs.
