Default Aluminum Fuel Cells>>>

Billingsley Racing is currently developing a bolt-in aluminum fuel cell for 4th gens. This cell will fit into the rear trunk well and include a rear firewall per NHRA rules. Optional battery mount will be available. This kit will provide a foundation for a drag racing style fuel system capable of supporting the demands of higher horsepower engines while shedding weight and retaining legality at the same time. Our calculations point towards a 5-6 gal capacity with a 0-90 ohm sending unit available. Price with chrome moly framework, aluminum cell, sending unit, battery mount, and firewall will most likely be in the $600 area. Is there enough demand for a product like this? We have a prototype built and need support to go further. Thanks

I would love a firewall. Have the fuel cell mounted already. Even will put another sticker on the hot rod <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
Think I might be the first 14* headed lt1 lol <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

I would love to have one, any chance on a larger cell? I was getting ready to start making a setup like this, but I would rather buy it then fab one up. Can you get some pics up? I will give you a call Monday.

What kind of weight savings vs. the stock plastic tank?

Terry,

I'm not sure of the exact weight of the plastic tanks, but the cell, sending unit, and frame should be about 12-15 lbs. Plus, with the lower total capacity, pick-up starvation should not be a problem as with the factory tank. Obviously this won't allow for a 100 mile cruise, but should be enough for a night of racing.

Sounds like a very good idea Jay. How would the firewall attach to the car? The firewall would be steel?

Chris's car has a custom made tank that feeds the weldon pump that is in his t-top well. Then he has an almuminum fake floor with an access door over the well.

THIS design is probably similar to Jay's old black camaro. You can see pics of the car and rear firewall on Madman's site.

Pics do not do the work justice. Absoutely some of the best craftmanship I have ever seen.

Wish I could afford to do this new setup. Maybe in the future.
