Default difference of 1/8 or 1/4 setup

When setting up a car for the 1/8 mile, is there anything thats recommended different in the setup or is it the same as a 1/4 mile setup. Sounds dumb just looking for comments and takers on this... Happy New Year

The lower the gear ratio, the quicker the car should reach peak rpm. That said, a typical 1/8th mile setup might use lower gears than a 1/4 mile set up for better results. Another option would be shorter tires for the 1/8th mile car.

I have a automatic with the stock gears now. What gear is recommended? Will changing to that gear kill my gas milage on a daily Bases?

If you're staying with the stock rearend I'd advise staying with the stock gears and get a bad *** TQ converter instead.

If you go to an aftermarket rear you should take a close look at your combination to decide on the gear. 3.73s are probably the most commonly used A4 gear.

With it being a A4, is there any reason to change the rear end? What type on TQ Converter you recomend?

I am planning on running drag radials, I dont go on road trips very often. Mostley drive to work and back. When i put my headers on i noticed a drop in gas milage. Im not ready to gut my hot rod out and make it a trailer queen yet The 2 closest track's are a 1/8th(Within 20 minutes) I am planning on going to bowling green a few times this year.

Not unless you break it, IMO.

What converter? Depends on you combination, usage, and tollerance to looseness.

If you're going to be running slicks and you don't care how loose it is I'd go with a TP4600. But, that's not the kind of converter you want to be driving around on the street everyday. An SS3600-4000 might be a better idea if you like to drive on the street alot.
