Default New best with my baby cam combo

Went to Steele today for some runs with a bunch of guys from Chattanooga. DA was 800 ft.
I got a new best in my Camaro
11.31@120
Heads ported by me with the help of my friends at tea (I did them when I worked there with help of some of the porters there. I was a machinist not a head porter so I am happy with how they turned out.).216/220 comp cam. Hooker long tubes and a tp4400.
3400 lb raceweight.

yeah it doesnt sound like much since I run with the stock cat back it is real tame.I open the cutout to make passes but close it on the return road.Makes for a nice quiet ride

I am going to change cams soon maybe the 227/224 thunder cam or something close to it.

Thanks ,
Cam should be going in soon.I am gonna look at your car hard though I really think the little cam will work good enough to get me into the 10's if I could hook car.
I need to try some new tires maybe on a 15x10 rim, cant get enough tire on the ground with these stock rims.

What is your ICL on that cam? Did you install it with the dots matching? What lift?

I just installed a 218/218 and lost 60'. It is on a 114 ICL installed with the dots. Gained a slight et and mph.

216 / 220 .525 / .532 114 LSA

I installed it straight up Larry. I am using the stock timing chan and gears . I am going to swap to a dual chain when I do another cam change.
My car seems to make very good low end power..Cant tell for sure with tp4400 But I cant hook for crap.
So far my best pass has been on my best 60 ft a 1.56

I ran a 1.58 60' with the 01 LS6 cam but slightly less mph than this cam. Slowed to 1.65 60' with this cam. I need my 60' back if I'm going to improve my et. That's why I think I have too little advance.

What rpm is your tranny shifting?

Sorry Larry I dont have info anymore. It is an off the shelf grind.
I shift 1-2 @ 6550
2-3 shifts at 6350
I moved since I did this and dont have the cam card anymore.
Thunder stocks this cam. I would call them and ask them to look at the cam card for you.
Whats the lift o your cam? .566? we installed one like that on a friends car idles great and made 400+ rwhp. Its a nice cam. Did you loose low end power with it? Or are you spinning now?

Your converter being looser than mine might explain why you are getting better 60' and et than I am. Should not account for that much more mph than me. I had a lower DA than you and only ran 115.84 mph. Or your cam has advance ground into it. Maybe a 110 ICL or so. Most cams do have some advance ground into them. My lift is .528 in and ex. I don't have a traction problem.

Your shift points are higher than mine. I shift about 6000 but that is as high as I can get my 1-2 shift without programming and about 6200 on the 2-3 shift.

With my 60' down I am sure my low rpm torque is less although on the top end I am getting a little more due to slightly higher mph. I just feel that more advance is required to take advantage of my cam.

If you could get your ICL I sure would like to know so I will have a better handle on how much to advance my cam. Thanks!

I was down there Sat with my 2002 and Sunday with my 98 and my 2002, which car was yours? I'm looking for a "small" cam for my 2002 and my stock heads. Did you have your car tuned with LS1 edit on a dyno after the cam.. or do you still have stock programming?

My car is the black 2000 Z-28 with the SS hood and michigan plates.
I tuned the car with edit on the dyno.Dont ask my non dynojet numbers they are embarrassing.
And I wont tell.!
I was parked bside the Blue Viper and the pewter camaro and red rx-7
I would use a straight durration cam if you dont want to do tuning. While this car has a small cam I think a 216 or a 218 cam straight across will idle better than a split.
