All right, now, before I go back to the track this weekend...
What exactly do I need to do to calculate the DA on the day/evening/night of my next track visit? I've used both of the most commonly-used calculators, and, using the same conditions for both, have gotten completely different numbers. Which calculator should I use and what conditions (i.e. temperature, dewpoint, humidity, etc, etc, etc.) should I make sure I know? What is the most popular way to find the DA is pretty much what I'm asking.
TIA.
TIA.

you could always just call the local news station, they will know it and it should be pretty accurate.... as far as the calculators go, i've never really looked into them. Would www. weather.com have it?
on a side note, will you be running this weekend? hows' the 9"? how do you like the gears? anyway, looking forward to seeing your car run man

Alan,
Here is how I do DA.
First, I'm assuming you don't actually have the necessary weather instruments, so go to www.wunderground.com and type in the city that you're racing it. That will give you the closest reporting station, and provide Temp, Hum, and pressure.
Next you need your tracks elevation. I don't know what "TAD" is, or I'd give it to you. You should be able to get that info from this site: http://www.racefan.com/ShowState.asp?state=TX
With that info, go to this calculator: http://wahiduddin.net/calc/calc_da_rh.htm
Plug in the info from the correct time, and you'll have your DA.
The reason you get different answers from different sites is likely because of the different ways of reporting pressure, and also the different methods of using that pressure. Use the data and links I gave you, and you should be fine. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
Good luck.
Bob

Thanks, Sean. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />
Bob, no, I don't have any weather measuring stuff. I'd like to, though. <hint: my birthday is July 31>. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> Thanks for the info. That was exactly what I was looking for. Now I will have an exact DA measurement this time when I go to the track w/ my new gears.
BTW, TAD = Temple Academy Dragway in Little River Academy, TX. Great little IHRA track.
Take care, buddy.

No problem. Track elevation is 700 ft. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
