Default Paging all Big Cube TH350/TH400 guys

What did you all dyno through the TH350/TH400 trannys both locked and unlocked?

What losses did you notice between T56/4L60E and the TH350/400 combo...
Thanks,
Chris

I am running a TH400, stock displacment 346c.i. non locking converter...

Last time I dynoed it made 370rwhp and 455rwtq, thats MTI stage 2 heads (2.055/1.60) valves, and an MTI X1 cam...230/227 .591/.571 112lsa

I hear on average they suck up close to 30rwhp

I just put a lockup TH350 behind my MMS 396 and home to have some dyno numbers soon. Just waiting for a driveshaft now...

Terry, any reason for a lockup over a non-lockup on a TH350? I'm going to build a non-lockup TH350 for mine since I already have one ready to build on, and since they are so cheap to build up and thrash. Probably use a TCI 3500 TH350 converter since I'll be spraying a little. Ah, summertime plans.

Lock up gives you more efficiency, more MPH through the traps, more HP if you lock it up...

After things are all set with my car I will dig into the tranny, my TH400 has 5000 street/track miles on it, holding strong as ever... I want to put a lockup kit on it, along with a more stout 2.75 first gear...

What happend to your 4L60E Terry.I know u had it all rebuilt with good parts?Guess it didnt hold up too well to the 396,huh?

I have had 2 4L60E's and to tell ya the truth I wish I wouldve built a 2.75 first geat style 350 w/a brake after the first 4L60e went boom.

So far so good but I'm only making 430RW and not nearly as much tq as u are Terry.U made a smart move going w/the 350....

I was putting 470 to the tire on a mustang dyno. I had a th350, 9in, 3:70 gears, 4000 stall on a W-Tire. Best trap speed N/A was 127mph. I have seen similar combos make high 4XX and low 5XX with a stick on the same dyno.

Right now I have 3.23s out back, so on the highway my RPMs are the same as the 4L60E with 4.10s. There are probably some 3.73s in my future though.

I went with the lockup to keep the RPMS down on the highway with a 4500rpm stall.

With a non lock up TH400, 4200 stall converter, stock displacment, steel driveshaft to a 12-bolt w/3.73 gears, MMS Stage IIx heads and 229 cam I dynoed 414rwhp and a boat load of torque. Kinda wondering where I would be dynoing at if I had a 4L60E, a locked converter, through a aluminum driveshaft and 10-bolt???

i hope it doesnt go out anytime soon
