Sorry guys,IMO once u take the shortblock apart IT AINT STOCK,Better pistons, balancing, stronger rod bolts all give u the ability to rev it higher and harder for added power and isnt a fair comparo to a stock shortblock H/C car.
But GTSS has one stout setup and its the quickest for sure.10.6 while rowing is BAD ***!!!!

JS they are not talking stock shortblock they are talking about stock displacement. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
I heard GTS SS's new ride will be a lot slower. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

Yes, any overbore is no longer stock displacement. Technically.
But if you really think less than a 2 cu. in. difference results in huge amounts of power, you got other things to worry about.
Is there a prize for an unbored block running fast??
Cause i know i can get another block quick, and new pistons real easy <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
I just find it amusing that it's such a big deal.
How about the "fastest non-resleeved aluminum block" car?
does it really matter??
just ranting, i find it painfully amusing that people care some much.
line 'em up and drive <img border="0" alt="[driving]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_driving3.gif" />
And no, i'm not stock cubes <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

The reason I was making the point is because this includes power adders.
Matt....don't get into a tussie <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> All this winter weather must have you getting stir crazy <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> With forged internals, anyone can go faster with the addition of a power adder. I just want bragging rights for stock displacement.
FWIW...I do have ARP rod bolts, so I do not claim to be "internally stock".

.25mm over bore is a 349,then u factor in a better ring, rod bolt (if u choose to use one),balancing the whole assembly etc....
What are the benefits over say a "untouched" shortblock?A better engine suited for REPEATED 7000+ shifts, which in the end will make more power.
If u dont think thats worth anything thats your perogative, but real racers know its worth alot more...

"I have the quickest/fastest ~348-9ci LS1 MN6 Firehawk as of 1/30/03" . The "Firehawk" and date are just for good measure. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
Please stay outta the stock cid threads from now on. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_images/icons/tongue.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

The most commom aftermarket piston is 3.905 which is a .007 overbore would make it 346.84. I really don't think there would be a horsepower advantage 1.24 additional cubic inches. Not to mention most off the shelf forged pistons are a little heavier then stock piston which will reduce horsepower.
So would you consider it a stock bottem end? Hell no. Would you consider it stock cubes for comparison sakes? We could argue that until the end of time but I would say yes.

Paul,u better open up a SPEED PRO catalog...
.25MM overbore NHRA legal piston = 349CI
Do I think an extra 2/4 cubes are gonna make a big deal,NO WAY.But how about a shortblock that u can rev to 7500 REPEATEDLY,Is that worth anything over a stock shortblock?
I dont think u wanna answer that question,Paul <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
Call ya tommorrow...

U say potatoe I say pataaatoe,Who's right buddy <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
Wont rev a stock crank to 7500 huh?
We'll alot of people have done it w/a BALANCED and BLUE PRINTED shortblock with a cam designed to make power up there too.
Was it worth it,Go ask GTSS and Futral.Looking at what there setups run,I'd say YEEEEESSS it definetly worth it!!
Cant do that with a stocker last time I checked?
Unless u want a windowed block....

I hear ya. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />
Just messin with you on the crank. My solid roller 375cid is coming together right now. I'll be tuning it about 7200-7400rpms, with a stock crank. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Re: So the quickest MN6 346 CID car is 10.66?
JS...I am hip with all that. I used to run a similar motor to Matt's that I built myself (348cid/Lunati Rods/Ross/etc), but my current bottom end is pretty much stock, so I want to see where I can take it before the next motor build up.
