Default 11.5975 @ 118.04 (1.5969)

Here's the slip...

R/T: .5644
60': 1.5969
330': 4.7629
1/8-mile ET: 7.4263
1/8-mile MPH: 92.80
1/4-mile ET: 11.5975
1/4-mile MPH: 118.04

Someone check the DA for Little River Academy, TX (76654 is the zip code) at 9:46 p.m. (or thereabouts) on Saturday night, February 1st. Raceweight unknown. Temple Academy Dragway has no trustworthy scales. Changes from last full-interior raceweight of 3500 lbs...

-no back seat/seatbelts
-no far rear speakers/speaker panels
-no spare/jack
-stock 2001 Z28 wheels/tires -> Prostar 15" x 3.5"s with VW tires, Prostar 15" x 8"s with 28" x 9" x 15" ET Drags
-half a tank of gas -> less than 1/8 of a tank
-completely bone stock 10-bolt -> Ford 9" w/spool/4.56 gears/31-spline axles

I figger a raceweight of ~3425 taking all that into account. Anyway, all I can say is that it's remarkable to be in the 1.5X 60' club, especially with the original clutch. It was awesome because my last pass of the night was the best 60', ET, AND MPH of the night. The run immediately before yielded a 1.60 60' with the clutch slipping and with me missing 4th gear to an 11.85. Then, not 5 minutes later, without ANY cooldown time, the clutch held a 1.59. It was a great night. I'm looking at 11.2's before too long with some weight reduction, a driveshaft, and a clutch. Gotta get ready for the big bolt-on shootout!

Very nice! I certainly have my work cut out for me. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

For a DA, I come up with +828 ft. Good run! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Very nice Allen. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Keep up the great work. You should be in pretty good shape for the Spring break shootout. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

Did you switch to narrower slicks? What were the rpms at the end of track?

Thanks for all the kind words, gentlemen.

The shootout in BG is going to rock hard! Did you happen to get a response from Tom about making "bolt-ons only" a class?

+ 828 ft.?!?!?! Whoa. I was expecting something a bit closer to zero. Amazing. What were the weather conditions (temperature, humidity) you found?

It takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'. Speaking of hot-lapping, it's interesting that I ran my car 4 times within 18 minutes without shutting off the engine and my MPH went from 117.40 to 117.67 to 115.17 (missed 4th) to 118.04. Go figure. Drag racing is a crazy thing.

I ran them at 10.5 psi and the track prep was wearing off as the night went on, yet I still managed to get my best 60' on one of the very last races of the night. I'm not sure if I could have possibly come out of the hole any more aggressively than I did on that pass, but maybe with some more practice/fine-tuning on the launch.....it's possible... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> We'll see. A clutch might help...what do you guys run/recommend for a clutch/flywheel/hydraulic setup?

The only answer I ever got was essentially "don't know if we can fit it in".

Weather info...

Track Elevation: 700 ft
Temp: 57F
Hum: 67%
Baro: 29.95
DA = +838'

These conditions were from the closest reporting station in Temple. This link refers: http://www.wunderground.com/history/...lyHistory.html

These stock clutches are weird.I know some people who have terrible luck with them and there are people like RAGEman and I that have run them a long time and they still grab.I have 2 seasons on my clutch and it works 75% of the time.

SWEET!!
Do you attribute the 2-3 mph higher trap speeds
to the skinnier slicks?
1.59...must be nice!

Congratulations,Alan. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

<sweating..... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

How do I get a better ET than you with a
worse 60' and a slower MPH? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

Dude, I don't know about the ET/60'/MPH thing...you might attribute it to shift RPM's, driving in a straighter line, slight differences in our powerbands, etc. Who knows?

Again, thanks for the kind words. I feel better about my car than I have in a while. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

You can also attribute ET/MPH differences due to driver and gear/tire efficiency <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Once the DA drops,I'm toast.
Pure and simple. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
Since it seems like the bolt-on shootout isn't going
to happen,I don't think I can resist the urge
to make more power. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
I can't compete with Texas weather. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
But we'll see.......
I hope Alan hits 11.3x,that would SERIOUSLY ROCK!
Gut the ****** and let it rip!!!! <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />
