Default Best compromise tire for the "weekend wwarrior"?

Here's my particular situation.

Got about a 75-mile highway drive to the
dragstrip outside Orlando. I'd like
to find the best drag tire that will
be OK on the Interstate to get there,
maybe last me for 20 trips there, do a
few passes & back home. I'd like it to go
on a 17" rim (unless I can find some 16"
chrome 10-spokes that look like they
belong).

I don't know the difference between the
three different kinds of Nitto 555s, or any
of the other makers out there... just looking
for happy campers with happy hookup tales.

In order of "Streetability":

1) Nitto 555R Drag Radial. 9-12,000mi of combined racing/driving. At 1/2+ tread are acceptable in light/med rain.

2) BFG DR's. Expect 3-6000 miles. Light rain only at full tread.

3) ET Streets. 2,000 street miles. Zero rain. Don't even THINK of driving in the rain.

In order of Traction: Reverse.

I routinely drive 100mi each way to the track with ET Streets on.

BFG's...will hook up slightly better than the Nittos...VERY slightly.....best difference I could get was .001.

The down side? BFG are HORRIBLE in the rain..even when new.

BFG's also wear out 4 to 5 times faster than a pair of moderately driven Nittos.

I would get recommend the Nittos over the BFG's every time unless the tires were to be used at the track ONLY.
