Default Chasing 10's cam only- Here's my progress

Mods- 98TA, LS6 intake, Crank pulley, TR-230 cam, TP4200, 3.73s, MACs w/ Lanes's true duals

Suspension- !front swaybar, LCAs

weight reduction mods- Pro-stars, !pass/rear seats and spare and jack = 3390lbs

Best Times w/ Vig3200 (Denton): 7.60 w/1.63 60' @ 92.4

added YTP4200(K-dale): 7.41 w/1.63' @ 92

added LCAs (At SLP day in Ennis): 7.33 w/1.58 60' @ 92.7

Chris Marsh made some shift adj.w/edit(K-dale today): 7.30 w/1.59 60'

I just ordered some KYB AGX 8-way adj struts and shocks from Summit. Will those help the 60'?

Future mods: Tubular K and arms, SFCs, bigger rear swaybar, light battery.

here's what i'd do.

26x10 ET Drags or Hoosiers
4.10's
your adj. shocks (prolly help a hundreth or 2)
tq arm if you have the cash (id do this before the swaybar...but its up to you. the tq arm discussion is pretty subjective)
and lose another 100lbs...i.e. BMR K and A-arms, battery, etc.

Ryan-

I already run 26x11.5 Hoosier QTPs. I haven't given up all hope that I need a true Drag tire...yet.

4.10s-Same boat. I have 3.73s. I haven't given up on them yet.

I'm keeping the stock TA and getting Reloc Brackets

You really think the adj. suspension will only help that little?

JC, a little less weight is good along with traction but I would consider 4.10's a must. That cam is kinda peaky and I run my quickest times with a stock motor with 4.10's. 3.73's definately slowed me down a tenth.

I think you are going to have a hard time doing it. Your race weight is going to have to be really light. Is it worth tearing up your car to prove a point???

I just plan on adding light batt, K-member and lower arms. I don't think that is tearing it up.

No I don't plan on taking out carpet and stuff.

how did you know I surf dfwstangs?

yeah, i remember the video from SLP day. I would get those adj. shocks on...you'll leave much smoother and with more weight on the rear tires. plus you can really tune with the track.

I bet you'll see bottom 1.5's at least. Probably a bit more with some weight reduction.

The 1/8th mile time you are chasing is somewhere around a 6.95 The car should be running around 97 mph in the 1/8th too.

Also, I just dug out an old timeslip that is near your posted 1/8th mile times. This was when I still had stock internals and prolly around a 3350 raceweight: 1.575 7.38@91.91 11.63@115.63.

Your 7.30 pass should have been somewhere around a high 11.4x to low 11.5x pass at around 117.

You need to shed around 1/2 a second.

Just food for thought.

Hey Mike. Thanks for the heads up. Yeah I know I need a 6.95 or the like in the 1/8 to run the times I'm looking for.

My last run (the 7.30) was done in 96% humidity weather here in Dallas Tx last weekend.

Hopefully with good weather the car will pick up some power. I don't expect this to be easy but, hey...we all need goals right?

Go for it
Take out the interior (Only takes about half an hour tops)
run a real slick and step up in gear. When you are in that range speed wise it gets harder and harder to drop tenths
Cheers,
Chris

Do you have the TR 230/224 cam?

I think a set of drag shocks up front will help a lot your 60ft will need to be like a 1.50 or slightly better to hit 10.9 with that power level.

I picked up a tenth in the 1/8 mile after insalling Hals up front with CE drag shocks & V6 springs in the rear. But I was only running low 8's in a bolt on 94 T/A. Hopefuly you can get the same results.

I was highway racing alot so I wanted a cam. Well I grew up and highway racing got stupid so here I am with an A4 again. So the cam is already in so why not keep it?

I over 400 when it was a 6spd. I have no idea what it lost by going back to an auto. I really don't care about dynos anymore. (Go figure, I used to be a dyno queen) LOL

My best 60' was a 1.58 w/ LCA, !swaybar. Hopefully the KYB AGXs help me out. My car snaps back down hard on the launch.

Here's vid of a 7.33 run 1.61 60' last weekend.

Check out the launch. Notice the front come back down hard enough to move the rear? That's gotta be hurting me, right?

http://whitetrash.jbeez.net/media/videos/kdale/

It's the "JC733" run.

You need tars and gears. My cam peaks at 6500 and after running the 3.73's this weekend I really feel like 4.10's will pick me up a solid 1/2 tenth or more.

Stick with it but you will need a 1.51-1.47 60ft. with a 3300 lb. car to run 10s with a cam. Stick with it and try new things such as lanching higher, bigger gears, different tires and playing with suspension.

IMO 4.10s with a cam or heads/cam can gain up to a .1/1mph solid but with a good sticky tire and track. I would make that my next mod if it were me

I guess your going to have to get in line behind me on that quest Looking for the same but i'll need some cool air fast before the heat gets here!
