As tech enthusiasts, I thought you guys would enjoy reading this thread. The video is pretty neat as well. Looks like the sky is the limit with these cars.

SICK DUDE! i am one of the few car lovers and not ford haters. i will admit that combo is awesome. the ONLY reservation i have is that it IS on hardcore race gas (114 i believe). i dont think many would be willing to run on that stuff

Considering the short time these things have been out, it looks like 1k at the flywheel will be bolt ons(yes I do consider the new blower a bolt on since it doesn't require anything more than bolting it on) and tuning. Pretty impressive at the least. I want to see the longevity factor also.

Is that really impressive for race gas and two power adders?

Most COBRAs exceeding 16 pounds of boost use race gas or fuel concentrate, regardless of the type of blower they run. I guess they could use 93 octane, but the A/F ratio and timing advance would have to very mild, to say the least.

What's impressive about Pete's car is that it made 730 rwHP with just the blower. Plus, the shot of N2O isn't that high (only a 50 shot), and he's probably using it to further cool the intake charge temperature.

Looks like fun to me - can't believe they are getting that much power already. A good rivalry has the bar raised again, let the games begin

The power is definitely impressive, but how come the Supras are making more power with 3.0L and a single poweradder?

Do any of these big dyno racers have any track times? Thats more important to me

Tony some food for though. Supra motors use Turbos.. These turbos in the big HP cars can be huge. People like Jesus Riverea have T-88Hs (not Ds like most people commonly see) which are extremly large turbos. They make awesome power but lag like a bitch unless they have n2o to spool them. The Cobra made 740rwhp on motor and 790rwhp with a 50 shot of gas on 24psi (MAYBE 26psi). Also on a blower car you have parastetic (sp?) drag. If the car had a big turbo with equal boost it could make anywhere from 50-100rwhp more than those dyno numbers. I cannot wait till someone takes one of those motors, puts a sheetmetal type intake and slaps a 91.55mm thumper to it and then REALLY cranks the HP of that sucker

Chris, you have some valid points, but this is a drag racing section, not a "Dynojet Racing" section.

The last Generation Supra has been around for how many years?

The 03 Cobra has been out for less than one. Give it time.

According to the thread, the car will be raced in an event this weekend at a drag strip. I'll post the results since this is a drag racing section.

I agree with what has been said about the Supras. They run enormous displacement turbos, making for better numbers with a smaller displacement engine. Yet, they don't run "that fast" at the drag strip. This Mustang should haul ***, assuming the stock IRS doesn't grenade.

Supposedly, a company by the name of Works is coming out with even a bigger blower that walk all over the Kenne Bell. They already manufacture this larger displacement blower for the Lightning.

In addition, a supercharged car won't put up similar peak dyno numbers compared to a single or twin turbo, due to the parasitic loss needed to turn the blower. A simple Vortech S-trim for our cars uses 70 HP just to spin the blower gears.

For a simple blower swap ($3600), bolt-ons ($1000), larger injectors, and a dyno tune, these new COBRAs in 2003 are to the Ford camp what the LS-1 was to the GM crowd back in 1998.

Also don't forget that this is Nitrous Pete's car. He is a drag racing legend and has built some seriously kick butt cars in his years. He will show you some impressive 1/4 mile times soon, You can count on it.

also dont compare the 03 cobra motor (we need to come up with an acronym for that thing) to big turbo supras since these motors make HUGE Torque down low and everywhere actually. i mean when we are talking 550 RWTQ by 3000 or so rpms, that is gonna haul some ***!

Yes its impressive and I very much welcome the cobra as both healthy competition and another reason to buy an american muscle-car.
