Default I've never raced, but . . .

I will be running my car at the SLP Appreciation Day Event in Los Angeles later on this month. I drove an SUV for the past four years before buying my WS-6. The T/A is the first manual transmission I had ever driven. I, literally, taught myself how to drive a stick with my WS-6. I have never been in a street race nor have I raced at the track.

I need some detailed "how-to" tips and pointers...

How should I warm up my tires?
How should I launch?
How should I shift?
Where would my shift points be?
What is the safest way for me to slow down/stop?

I'm driving a slightly modified 2002 WS-6 M6. Minor modifications include: SLP lid and filter, ported TB, free TB bypass mod, SLP cat-back exhaust w/magnaflow muffler, flowtech cut-out, and I'll be running on Mickey Thompson E/T Streets.

Any information is appreciated.

thanks,
Rome

You won't have to worry about shifting, or how to slow down with ET Streets mounted up. I bet you slowly come to a stop about 30 feet from the line. ET streets+stock 10 bolt+6 speed= Kaboom. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

Hell, just street tires with a M6 and a hard launch have taken out two stock rears for me.

whoa... thanx for the heads up. I also have a pair of Nitto 555R's that I am about to sell. Should I proceed with the sale, should I use them for myself, or should I just stick to stock tires?

I broke my differential on Nittos w/a cam & TC setup. I got a Torsen differential installed but my mechanic told me it was like putting a band-aid on a toothpick. I wouldn't worry (too much) about breaking your rear end with street tires but who knows? Your best bet is to get a 12 bolt. I am getting one as soon as I come up with the money.

Just don't do any 4500 RPM clutch dumps like I did and you'll be okay, though the ET Streets are overkill for the 10-bolt, IMO. Nittos are what I'm running until I get a 12-bolt. And I don't dump the clutch anymore, I roll into it, then mash the gas once the car is moving and the clutch is all the way engaged. Sure, my times suffer, but my wallet won't. Already grenaded mine once on Nittos. ET Streets would utterly destroy my poor 10-bolt.
