Default 28" Slicks someone help

Ok here is what I need to know. I went today and priced 28" MT ET Drags and there are three different ones.

1. 3055 (28x10.50 15) Standard ET Drag 28.1 diameter with 11.7 sidewall and weighs 23lbs $164 each

2. 3055S (28x10.50 15) Same as above but allegedly with a stiffer sidewall and weighs 24lbs $169 each <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> would this not make traction worse??

3. 3055W (28x10.50 15) Same as #1 also but wider the difference here is 13.1" sidewall and a 10.9" contact patch compared to I believe 10.5" on the above and it weighs 26lbs. $177 each

So my question is WIDER really better here and will it give me a major problem. I sort of know that I will have to work on the bumper a little to get the 28" tire to fit but will I have to do anything else?? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

I guess that I need more tire even though my little 26x10 cut a 1.46 60' on a M6 car. 28 would help me on the top end tremendously. I could turn the limiter back down a little then. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

The 3055 is just what you said... The "standard" 28x10.5" slick.

The 3055S does indeed incorporate a stiff sidewall, and is geared more towards a car that really hits the tires hard. The stiff sidewall keeps deflection of the tire more under control so the tire has less tendancy to fold up all over itself, which can cause the tires to break loose just after the launch. They would probably work well on an M6 car like yours. They worked great on my car.

The "W" tire is a good bit bigger, especially in the sidewall section width. Expect major hammering/massaging to fit it inside the fenderwell due to the size. If memory serves me correctly, the "W" is also considered a "high growth" tire, so it will grow a bit more than either of the other two...

Thanks George I would have thought just the opposite about the stiff sidewall. I would have thought it would hurt the traction but I guess that just goes to show you until you ask huh. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I guess I will probably go with the S tire then cause the ones I have now are worn out. BTW bumper Modification is all that I need to do right, like what you did to yours??

Don't get me wrong, the stiff sidewall could hurt a car that can't hit the tires hard enough. I have watched some older launches in my car in slow motion, and it's amazing what the tire goes through when the transbrake releases.

Trimming the bumper is most likely all you'll have to do to fit a 28x10.50.

For a six speed Hot Rod you need the 3055S (28x10.50 15). <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

This is the tire that I ran when I had little ol'28 inch tires. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_images/icons/tongue.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Get the 3055S (28x10.50 15). You will be a happy camper! <img border="0" alt="[angel]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_angel.gif" />

Hey Coach aren't you running like 31's or 33's <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

Also I believe that all I will have to do is work on the bumper a little like George said. Coach what experience have you had?

Just curious. I don't know how hard it hits but as i mentioned I did cut a 1.461 60' on my 26x10's in a 3780lb car so I guess it is hitting pretty good.
