Default Got into the 12's,but not happy

Over the winter changed convertor, cat back, mass air meter, air lid and programmed pcm. stock times and mods are in sig.
Best Run.
1.82 60 ft
8.2@85.89
12.82@ 106.68
I am not impressed at all. Maybe i expected too much but i thought on Nittos i could get a easy 12.4-12.5 around 108-110mph. But could not find good way to launch without big traction problems. Nittos need to be replaced, down to wear bars.
After that i turned the bottle on and was even less impressed.
1.71 60ft
7.5 @ 92.34
11.78 @ 115.91
Problem for me is that last year all stock plus bottle i ran 11.85 @ 115 with 1.78 60ft.
With traction what should these mods due for mph,any guesses??? Or am i expecting too much.
Sorry so long. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

What shot are you spraying? From your trap speed, it looks like a 100 shot. That's about right though. My car runs the same as your's as far as trap speed on a 100 shot. I just can't e.t. well 'cause I'm still on my stock tires. There's no reason to be upset about those times though. It's normal.

NickMapleT/A -Thanks for your input. I am having trouble with the fact that i have a 150 shot WET kit and my mph is so low. I changed my exhaust by gutting cats and putting on wide open Borla with a Dynomax Bullit in the I pipe added air lid with GMS air meter and no mph increase. My drag radials do NOT hook so the time is not bad ,just wanted more mph. Time for headers?

You might want to consider some dyno tuning. I'm guessing your A/F ratio is messed up. You should trap higher than 115mph on a 150 shot IMO. My 100 shot with street tires (lid &amp; catback only) yielded a best of 118mph.

Someone at track told me to throw that GMS as far as i could and put the stock sensor back on? could he be right? I want to dyno tune but waiting to do headers and y pipe.

I'd definitely go with the stock MAF. Just descreen it. I've heard nothing but bad things about the GMAF.

I see you live in Michigan. That elevation would definitely affect your trap speed. I'd be willing to bet that if you came down here, you would run alot better. As far as the MAF, I agree that you should swap it back to stock. I dyno'd 30 HP less with my GMAF. It was making me run pig rich, which is safe, but robbing alot of power. Good luck, and get some headers. You're bringing all that extra air in (especially with the bottle), but you're not gonna get it out efficiently without headers.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, i will put the stock maf back in . i also ordered 315/35/17 Nittos to replace the worn out 275/40/17's i have right now. Hope that helps the traction issue,at least on the motor. Headers and y pipe will be very soon,Then off to dyno to tune this girl. Thanks again .

I hope the 315's help with traction. Generally speaking, more sidewall provides greater traction. Let us know how the changes work out for you.

I got the 315's on the car now and i tell you, there is a world of difference on the launch now. Old tires were smoked, new tires and wider helped a ton. I also replaced the GMAF,back to the stock meter and things seem to be pulling a little harder now. But hard to tell because things are much different with some traction. Track times are coming very soon,it was raining here for the last t-n-t night. I will post the times as soon as i get them. Thanks.

What was the weather like on those runs? What elevation are you at?

BAIN- i remember the temp and humidity and do not know the elevation. It was approx 64 degrees and about 78-80% humidity. Also was a headwind of about 6 mph. That's all the info i can give ya,Oh, the track is in Stanton, MI. Hope that helps ya.
