Default Weighed the car today...

2660 lbs... no driver and about 2 gallons of excess fuel.

I weighed it before I took it to Speed INC for the LG Motorsports G5X4 cam install and TH350 w/brake and an 8" verter.

Going for the cam only record here are a few things I am doing that will make the car even lighter.

Cut off bumper support frame brackets: ~7lbs
Remove power antenna: ~4lbs
Remove misc interior brackets: ~5lbs
Lightweight fans: ~5lbs

4L60E w/9" converter to a TH350 w/ 8" converter: ~noclue

I'm also contemplating doing the rear hatch glass.. ~50-100lbs of savings there.

So, If I wanted to race in the LS1tech series I would have to add about 500lbs of ballast to my hatch and then add wheelie bars.. I don't think thats going to happen.

I will weigh the car again next week when I pick it up with the 350 and 8" converter.. also see if a different day on the scales throws me a drastically different #.. 2660 is kinda creepy.

Insane! I think you might need wheelie bars regardless!

What do you have left of the car - body, sub-frame, drive train and 4 tires??? 2660 that's insane - hell I'm try to get to 3200lb race weight - I have a long ways to go.

Good luck

i honestly didn't think that was possible. where did you weigh it at? and just curious, have you ever weighed it before and seen a number even close to that? and last, was the scale certified? i'm very curious about this, it's freakin' awesome to think the car can actually get anywhere near there.

thanks,
Dave

Now I feel really heavy. I weighed my car yesterday and it was 3712lbs. without me in it. I didn't realize there was that much weight that could be removed.

If Magnus used the steel company scale, then I have used it too. I've tested it and it's been very accurate.

I need to weigh my car there again. Last time with me in it it was 3550 but that was a while ago.

I used the scale by Speed INC.

I've weighed the car in around 28xx lbs before I did all the light weight suspension,brakes,rear...

The car also has a stock cloth non power driver seat. I find it more comfortable than a race seat.. Plus I have recline until I hit the roll bar.

I'll try to weigh it again on Wednesday to see what # the scale brings up that day.. I do believe the car is around that weight.

I also have the 7lb dash and 7lb dash brace in the car that I don't want to remove.. and I have not swiss cheased and do not want to either.. I am ok with cutting out hunks of frame that are not required though. (rear bump stop brackets, front bumper support frame mounts)...

If all goes well this week I will be racing on Sunday..

that's sick keith lol. that scale is accurate, we weight on it all the time.

you will save a decent chunk on the th350 swap, i've picked up 4L60's and th400's and the 400 was significantly lighter, 350 will be even more so of course. 4l60 is a heavy *** trans for sure.

The steel company scale on that street perpendicular to Albion.

I've verified it's accuracy because I had a 20 lb weight in the car, and the scale was dead on when I removed it.

It's possible for one person to push Keith's car even though it has 28" slicks in back.
