Default Question on air bag module under center console and removal

So.... got motivated yesterday and began yanking out the E brake assembly.

I came across this big silver box and on it it mentioned something to the effect of air bag control module.

I still have both air bags in the bird but intend on removing them.

Since I have the center console out.... I might as well ditch this module.

Would there be any negative effects of dissconnecting this module and removing it? Would it set off an air bag light?

Also, realistically.... how easy is it to remove the passenger/ drivers side air bags?

The airbags are pretty easy to remove. The drivers you just unbolt. The passenger's side will come out without removing the whole dash. I dropped it through the bottom after I unbolted it.

I've been reading up on this..... seems like.... not difficult... just time consuming.

The drivers side..... silly question... the steering wheel cover, just pull off?

This should set off a SES light, James. You'll have to get your PCM retuned for the removal of those codes. I'm planning on dropping mine pretty soon as well--along with any other left over wiring in the car.

When I took my cluster apart, you cant just remove it, I think you have to break it off, but I didnt want to do that, so I put a piece of black electrical tape over the words airbag. Ive done this with other lights as well.

I just did the same thing but on the back side of the gauge panel. For ABS and SeatBelts as well as the AirBag light.
