Need help w/HVAC & passenger air bag removal.
I dont know where to start. I dont want to cut anything up unless I absolutely have to. I want to save as much as possible in case I put it back in at a later date or I decide to sell whatever I take out. I want to take both the HVAC and passenger air bag out. I figured since I'm working on the same side, that it would be convenient to do both since I've done neither one of them yet. Where do I start? Thanks.

Ther is a bolt in the center of the firewall. I broke mine because of that.
Its alot easier if the motor is out.
Not sure on the weight but that sum bitch was pretty hefty.
Airbag is easy once you get the dash out.

Well I managed to squeeze the air bag out with a little help. The dash isnt out, but it sure seems like it wants to come out. Something is holding it up. I took quite a bit out to get the dash out, but its just not wanting to come out. I want to remove the HVAC, all the ducting, and any other uncessary parts back there. I wish someone with experience on my side of town could give me a hand. This task is really frustrating. There are so many bolts. I'm glad I at least got the air bag and bracket out.

Few pics, did mine yesterday - its a pain but not really hard. Didnt break anything but this is the 3rd one I have done, my 5 year old even did some work on it If you have long arms you can get that bolt behind the intake, I can
There is a metal bracket you have to take off that holds the radio up, also the wiring beind the cluster has to be unclipped and its hard to do with the ductwork still attached, just keep taking stuff off..

why would you do that to your son? poor kid, he is gonna be as addicted as we are..... or is this a way to keep mom understanding with you buying all the goodies? "its the only quality father son time i get to spend with him!"
its not that hard, you just hafta take your time and break the one part at the back of the firewall.... almost unreachable bolt

that bolt on the back of the firewall isnt to bad if your intake is off. thats how mine came out since i already had it off at the time. other than that just start removing the small bolts that hold it all together. it took me maybe half a day to fo the entire project. just be careful w/ all the wires so you dont cause yourself problems later.

Just ask yourself "Am I really going to put all this crap back in the car?" After removing about 15 bolts and not making any progress I just got medieval on it and tore it out. The back bolt behind the intake manifold is a pain in the ***, but luckly I had someone with long skinny arms helping me out then.
I think everyone here at one point had a habit of keeping old parts around the garage because they MIGHT reinstall them later. Then after getting tired of looking at the parts sit there for a year, they end up in the dumpster anyway. If you're one of those guys that has a dozen of the exact same holley 4 barrel carburators sitting on the top shelf that you SWEAR you'll rebuild and use later since you put the first carb on the top shelf, tossing parts will be an even harder decision.
