Default .4 sec off 60'= what in the 1/4?

Im just want to figure out how much time would be cut off the 1/4 if i were to lower my 60' times from 2.1 to 1.7 Im having traction problems at the moment but when i get them all worked out and i should be able to pull 1.7's or better. Don't ask about my set up, just trying to get a simple answer "IF i were to lower the 60' times by .4-.5 what would that equal in the 1/4)

1 tenth off the 60' usually equates to 2-3 tenths off your ET.

yea i read that it was something like .2 for every .1 in the 60'. I just cant comprehend that i could lower my et by .8 or more if i could just hook up and not spin, and i mean i spin bad on nitto'. Motor is basically stock with a lid and cat back and converter. My 60's are 2.1-2.4 on adv with a best of 2.0 and 13.0 et... Killing to get into the 12's if i can hook..

For every .1 drop in 60' you will see about .2 in the 1/4. So yeah in theory you can drop .8 with a 1.7 60'.

That's been about my experience. If I lose or gain a tenth in my 60' from pass to pass, it's been about .2 in my quarter mile ET.

My experience says for each tenth off your 60 foot, you drop .15 off your ET. There is no exact science here really.

Right, there is really no science, I agree. But, I think we can all agree that 1 tenth off the 60' is definitely worth more than 1 tenth at the top.

nope, not in my experience.

.1 in the 60' = .1 down the 1/4.

I thought .1 = .2 down the quarter but isn't the case from what I have seen with my car, and comparing my friends slips as well.

Bubba, what are you running (trap and E.T) and whats your weight? mods?

Hmmmmmmmmmm, interesting. Seriously, I wonder if the 8000' elevation you race at has something to do with that.

Thats exactly what I was thinking. I think thats more then likely the case, as cars tend to start huffin and puffin on the top end at that kind of elevation.

I agree, Mike is exactly correct. The altitude must be your problem???

Personally, my 60' went from a 1.80 to a 1.70 and my car went from

12.00 to 11.70. MPH stayed the same, maybe went up .5 mph.

I am still not happy the car should 60' at 1.50 to 1.45 easily?
(damn converter)

Have fun!

I went from a 2.3 60' w/ 13.00 1/4 to a 2.0 60' w/ a 12.5 1/4. so about 1.7 quicker in the 1/4 for me. No if only i wasnt racing on street tires

It could be.....Its been like that for 4 different cars. 3 of which I have driven personally. The track elevation is at 5300 ft but the density altitude will reach the 9000 range during the summer

For example

my car (M6)
street tires 13.9@101 2.3 60'
drag radials 13.6@101 2.0 60'

friends car (A4)
slicks 13.3@101 2.0 60'
slicks 13.1@102 1.8 60'

another friends (A4)
drag radials 13.2@101 1.91 60'
drag radials 13.1@101 1.87 60'

bone stock we run 14.3-14.4 @ 98 on avg.

those are the times more or less off the top of my head, but I've got about 50 other slips of my own car for comparision. FWIW it corrects to about a mid 12 sec car at sea level. Guess I can dream can't I????

On street tires I go 12.6@117 cutting a 2.24 sixty. Is it possible for me to see 11's on a drag radial cutting a 1.9 or better. Hopefully a 1.8.
