Default 2 Questions about Front Sway bar

1. Is it worth removing for one day at the track on a daily driver?

2. How bad does it cause the front end to roll say if I take it off and drive to the track?

Thanks

Well I just took mine off but my car isnt a daily driver, just wanted to respond because I didnt notice it was missing on the way home. I will post tomorrow about track friendliness. It only took about 20 minutes to remove so I dont imagine it would be too hard to put back on.

It isn't bad on a daily driver, just takes some getting used to at first. I haven't had mine on for about 6 mo now.

If your drive with the OE sized tires (275 or 245), you can barely tell it is missing. Now, from my experience, if you are driving around with ET Streets on the back and skinnies up front, it will feel soft and tend to wander. I noticed the car 60' more consistent and better (-.05 in the 60') with the bar removed than with it on.

I took mine off last year. It helps with the 60' time some and gets rid of weight, With the 275/17 tires on the front I don't miss it.

Ditto.

The front sway bar hasn't been on my '94 for years.

It fights weight transfer to the rear. You want weight transfer to the rear when drag racing, therefore having on the car works against you (besides the extra weight). I used to put mine back on when I got home from the track, but then I started driving the car less on the street and also concluded that the extra roll wasn't really bad, so the bastard just stays off.

remove it and don't look back! free and easy weight removal and you most likely won't even notice it's gone except when you accelerate and the front end rises better/more quickly. definately going to see a much better weight transfer. i did it on my vert and i do not notice the difference.

Thumbs up

Mine's been off for over three years (street driven but not a daily driver) and I've been rolling on skinnies for most of that time as well...on skinnies it's maybe somewhat noticeable (that's mostly the skinnies though) but on full size fronts you can barely tell it's off until you really nail a turn hard.

If you only run at the track occasionally, you can just remove the swaybar connector links. It takes about 5 minutes to remove and re-install them. The F-body swaybar is only a 15 lb. weight savings, as they are hollow and weigh next to nothing. A connected swaybar is nice to have when hitting those highway exit and entrance ramps.... WJ

Well didnt even notice it was gone at the track, I did however lose a tenth off my et so it was a great free mod Its never going back on unless I sell the car and I dont see that happening.

yes. I'm batting about .500

In otherwords, if a swaybar has been on the car for a few years from the factory (no anti-seize) then half the time I have to break the endlink bolt to get it off.

I don't miss mine. With skinnies you can feel the front really lift. I don't push the car thru high speed turns. I learned what trees can do at 100 mph the hard way .
