first time Any tips for a first timer at the strip on how to launch and what gear I should be in when I hit the end. Any other tips would be great also.

Slip the clutch around 2000 RPM. Don't dump it you'll, just spin. Shift between 5800 and 6000. You should cross the line in 4th. If you leave it in 3rd you'll hit the rev limiter. Also, practice, practice, practice!
