Default bfg drag radials = garbage

went to the track yesterday. best was a 12.108 @114.78 mph with a 1.8 60ft. the other 6 runs were 2.066 and higher. could not hook at all spun tires hard until 2nd gear. these are the 275 50 15s and i also have my pinion at -3 degress still no traction. im not taking any more risks going with m/t et-streets next.also i tried huge burn outs and just cleaning them off never helped.tried 18psi all the way down to 12 psi in 2psi increments.
i should beable to pull a 11.6 with that mph what do yall think? also what do ya think my hp at the rear would be with that mph?

I was getting consistent 1.65 60 ft's with my old set up and the bfg's. Have you tried varying your launch rpm? I think 12 psi is a good # for those wheels. Do you have them on the right size rims?

im going to get some et streets and get rid of this factory cat-back but i think with agood 1.6 60ft ishould be in the 11's

Bfg's have worked well for us. We have pulled consistant low 1.5's with the 01 on the 275/50 tire and I have been as low as 1.69(for now) with the 255/50-16 BFG. It will be getting quicker. You may want to look more into your launch technique. It does help that we run 4L60e's but a buddy of mine cuts 1.6-1.7's with a 6-speed ZO6 on 18" nittos. It may also be track prep problems. I know for a fact those tires are good for some great 60's.

yeah that is a good point about the track.the one i was at was not prepped well at all they rarely swept it, or applied traction adder to the track. i was spinning on about an 1-1.5" of rubber shavings left on the track. there was an ss there with nittos he was gettin 2.0 60s as well. i'm gonna try milan's track in a couple of weeks. the time i did get a 1.8 it felt like pretty good traction, but after that i couldnt get lower than a 2.0?

Can't blame the tires for poor, or no track prep at all.... WJ

how are these tires for strictly street? I just want them to roll around on the street for better traction, 315/35/17.

I figured that, I would get Nitto's, but they run small and I want the full 315, I've heard that Nitto 315's are more like 295's.

That's pretty much the consensus. I don't see 114 mph being an easy 11.6. I was having some issues that are being worked out next week, but I went 12.2 @ 111 with ~1.74 60's.

114 is low for an 11.6 unless you are cutting real good 60' times , like 1.55-1.65, that means like a good converter or something, and then they wouldnt have as high of a top end power like the cars that run 11.6 at 120, because they dont launch as hard. but anyway i never had a problem with my BFG's not hooking, i run the same 60' with my ET Streets as i did with the BFG...... 1.68

Dont blame the tires, I have seen 1.31 60 fts on a 325/50...BFG's on a prepped track aint no joke.

What does it weigh? What's the setup?
That is unususually quick for a 114 trap. I'm sure plenty have done it, and I'm sure it's possible, I just said that 114 wasn't enough for an "easy" 11.6.

Ive gone 11.80s @ 114. An auto could go 11.60s imo.

Just got back from the track myslef. I was pulling 12.32's at 115mph on the motor, also later in the day (noon) the track got better and I started pulling 1.84 60's on the Nitto 275/40/17@ 17psi. Once I hit second is when I spun bad. Track prep was 0. Temp was cloudy and 45 in the am, 55 at about noon. Sucked.

Thinking about trying some MT radials and saving up for some real tires and rims. Going to try out the Cedar Falls 1/4 its suppost to be the "king of hook"......heard they spray the whole 1/8 with compound.

Just don't know what to go with for tires and rims yet....have to search it.
