Default Fuel cell rules?

Another NHRA safety question- the rulebook says that all fuel cells must be outside of the driver's compartment. How does this rule apply to hatchback cars and/or wagons (my car would be similar to the wagon)? Does that mean you're pretty much limited to the stock fuel tank location?
